Oooh.. after that then I think i just hit my purchases right.. maybe a day or so out, but as I said, i budgeted $1.60 and got $1.65, so saved £26.. which i'll probably end up converting to dollars anyway nearer to the time, and i still think i'm taking TOO much money with me... sod it.. i'll spend it on beer
I think that sounds like an excellent plan. I've got a new favourite beer over here. It's an amber beer. It's made by "leinenkugel". Nectar!0 -
Governments are terrified of a weak dollar I remember reading, it threatens their own competitiveness so they keep on trashing their own currency to keep everything cheap to international customers
NZ dollar and probably Australia also is suffering from their own currency strength. Thats the bigger picture I think, your holiday money is of no importance to central banks0 -

Yep, its gone down a bit to be sure (he says eating his words from a couple of days ago). But the lesson is that its touched $1.70 once, so my guess would be that its going to hit that point again, and probably quite soon.
My advice to all, such use as it is, is to budget any holiday monies at a retail rate of $1.63 - $1.65/£1 if you're away in the next 3 months (which is what I'm doing). You'll probably get a higher rate as time goes on, but that extra cash is gonna be like the cherry on the top.

1.70 is awesome compared to 6 months ago. Be grateful for small mercies...

Why do you need $US for Vietnam? I paid for everything in Dong.
Thanks for the info.
I suppose you can get US$ there , just like you can in the UK. I was thinking more about using an ATM which I usually do. Is this an economical way to do it, is it a case of exchanging dongs for dollars?
If you paid for everything in dong why where you at the bank withdrawing dollars?;)
I need the dollars to pay for accomadation that I have booked, the owners wanted paying this way.On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0
