    1.6705 trading

    Not according to halifax
    GBP Amount
    £ 100.00

    GBP Fee
    £ 9.50

    GBP Total
    £ 109.50

    US Dollar (USD) Amount
    160.20

    Exchange rate
    1.6020

Looks like they just ripped me off 7 dollars as well as a tenner, 4% spread I guess they call that

To be fair they gave me a better rate if I buy on a trading desk with no charge it looks like -

    Buy FX Rate: 1.6661

As has been said many times before the 1.67 is the actual trading rate not the tourist rate you will not get the 1.67 anywhere.

£10 charges to change £100 I cannot understand for the life of me why you paid that, would it not have been easier to walk into a Travel agents, I got 1.63 to the £ at Thomas Cook on Saturday with no charges.

  • 09:34 03Aug09 Gbp storms higher again after surprise expansionary PMI

08:34 GMT - It is all [GBP] at present and the 50.8 UK Jul manuf PMI result is
an instant positive. This is the best showing since Mar 2008 and is well
above the 47.8 forecast. Cable is immediately higher on the numbers, up
another calf cent or so to a 1.6828 best and 0.8462 in the cross. To
reiterate 1.7000 and 0.8400 the next bull targets and we suspect after
that data the calls for such levels will grow ever louder.

Whaddya think guys - $1.70 trading by weeks end? Big news in the week coming, what with GDP and a rate decision - so it could be a bit choppy... but I will be optimistic!
