I think you will find that the Indian shops provide excellent service at all hours of the day and night!

They may be Indian but they may be British Born too?

Turns a perfectly beautiful Saturday market in a lovely little village, where Mrs Advent & I used to stroll along the stalls for a few hours, into a Tesco Metro.
The character of the village has been destroyed, never to return.

You have forgotten a few more, Tesco also...

    1) Provides employment for local people. (the local Indian shop doesn't)
    2) Offers choice. (the local Indian shop doesn't)
    3) Offers competitve financial services. credit cards, loans. (the Indian shop dosent't
    4) Provides free parking. (the local Indian shop doesn't)
    5) Offers an odour free shopping experience..........:rotfl:

My SIL (shes actually my partner's stepbrother's partner but I find it easier calling her my SIL!!) works for Tesco, and when she was pregnant with her first, her manager was a right so-and-so to her and a few other girls she worked with who were pregnant - saying that he would not only see to it that they would get no maternity pay as they were daring to take time off to have a baby and so werent working  and he wanted them back to work within days of them having the child or he would have them fired for 'unauthorised leave!' Not only that but he would make them do stuff that pregnant women werent supposed to do (heavy lifting etc)
And the powers that be let him do it!! He got his comeuppance when my BIL (who is a lovely guy but you wouldnt want to be on his wrong side, trust me) got hold of him and said if anything happened to SIL he would kill him (he probably would have as well)
SIL got transferred to another store where they seem to be ok with her (she's just gone back after having her second) but as far as I know they did nothing about this guy but OH says he doesnt work there anymore.
    Such nice people Tesco employ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Such nice people that live in society these days!

Kills the High St of Bakers, Butchers, Grocers etc...

And 'Clones' people at the 'Hip' by closing everything else down in the process.

Ive' just seen my Town destroyed in 3 years.

Funny you should mention that. We had a tesco extra appear in a village next to where we live. Before tesco came there was a Butchers, a Bakery, Green Grocers, Chemist and an off licence. Now there's all of that and a tesco. They are all reporting improved business becuase people come for the tesco and think 'Oh, we should get some bacon whilst we're here'. They have the choice to get it from Tesco but they choose to go to the butchers.

Its not Tesco that destroy village shops. Its high prices and customers not wanting/needing the small shops anymore. If the local shops meant that much to people (like in the village I was talking about) then they will continue to shop in these stores.

If on the other hand they start giong to tesco, The small shop was obviously doing something wrong and should adjust accordingly.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

But isn't Tesco 24hrs?? And in my experience, this 'excellent' service is holding out their hand for your cash whilst on their mobile talking without muttering a word to you.

i would shop in tesco rather than my rundown town centre filled with junkies drinking cider (probably paid for from handouts from my tax) and having to pay for parking after a 10 min search for a parking slot.
yes it might be one thing leading to another, perhaps if all shop more in town centres then they can survive. unfortunately, its not practical. signs of the times.
