So how long will it take them to move people over? BT Basic was announced quite some time ago now.
Sorry, don't know any more about timescales. Some customers have apparently automatically been moved onto BT basic and others told that are not eligible. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
wow thanks guys you are all sooooooo clever, ive tried talk talk and o2 they all want him to take a package so annoying. He's 76 and a very silver surfer who can only just about turn the comp on but is willing to learn if he can get a cheap deal.:beer:0

hi thanks for the info whats ADSL? Im a bit thick
ADSL is broadband through a BT line (Asynchrous Digital Subscriber Line to be precise).
As you will see from the other posts, your dad cannot have a broadband connection while still on the BT Light User scheme. He needs to be on BT Basic (if he qualifies due to receipt of certain benefits), if not he needs to be on the BT Weekend Unltd scheme, (i.e. the cheapest BT package-however full line rental is payable on this scheme). On either of these he can then obtain a broadband connection.
It's likely that BT have already contacted him regarding the phasing out of the BT Light User scheme.
PS: O2 cannot have offered him a calls and broadband package, as they only offer broadband-they do not offer landline telephony.
Or if you don't mind an 18m contract, Plusnet on your exchange is a good deal at £5.99.No free lunch, and no free laptop
