I am out of my comfort zone here as I last dated when you could smell them after you had clocked the looks and talked to them. No online dating in the olden days.0 -

Aww, that's really nice and good to know, thank you.
I must admit I did hope it might be of some use to anyone in a similar position, or even fearing that they could be in a similar position in the future.
And I do rather hope it's being passed on to anyone who people feel that it might be of interest to.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I know, what's ironic is I used to be a regular poster on this board before all the sock puppet stuff kicked off. Well, I was a real bear, and I was one of them saying that things were going to get really bad, house prices, jobs the lot.
However, I was looking at it all from a 3rd party perspective, I never thought it would impact on me so soon, but it has.
What seems to have struck me is that it's not really the unskilled, low paid people that are struggling, it's the middle management, mid-range salaried people. I always said that when things were really bad, middle management would go first. That appears to be the case. In my case, i'm lowering my sights job wise, however, I'm getting the response that although i'm an excellent candidate, i'm over qualified and will get bored and leave as soon as I find something else. If I didn't have experience and a degree, i'd be employed now, that's for sure.
I'm in the unlucky position that what I do is not 'core business process'. I don't produce products, I don't design products and I don't sell products. I look at businesses and their systems and look for ways to improve them. In boom times, i'm well sought after. In this day and age, not only are there very few jobs advertised in my discipline, but there's so much competition that unless I have used X software, or Z process, my CV is rejected. They don't want anyone who can think outside the box and learn the skills when they have 10 CV's from people who have done exactly what they want in the past.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0 -

Snap! You could have been my DH thats exactly what he has found! Its so annoying your over qualified quip!Pawpurrs x0 -
I am over-qualified, or under-experienced, or I needed 730 days' experience of specifically performing one process using an obscure piece of software when I only had 729 days' experience. I think the public sector are worst for this because they use systems built for them and their job requirements are often that you need experience of their inhouse systems... a closed shop.
Instead, I now write drivel online for accumulating pennies
I've just spent the last 2 hours looking through something I'd overlooked, implementing it on my site and documenting it for others so they don't overlook the potential... although that simple "How To" guide has already stretched to 4 pages, needs another 6 and is clearly going to be Part 2 of a 3 part series of interlinked books ... so that'll keep me busy this weekend. All that work ... I then give it away free.
There's never an end to the drivel one can write online. It's a living.0
