Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 17th May. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning everyone, how exciting my first OS Daily!!!
Up at 5am this morning thanks to DD. Really need to get her waking early sorted out. She'll want her nap by 9am and I have to take DS to pre school for 9.30. So do I see if my mum can come round and mind her while I pop down or do I string her out and have a potentially stroppy baby? Hmmmmmm choices, choices!
Anyway weather not looking too great here at the mo. Very wet which I really don't like as we have to have the washing in our bedroom on the clothes horse. There is room for it thankfully but I just hate looking at it.
Made some yummy cheese straws yesterday and some tomato soup so will probably have those for lunch again today. Evening meal is Sausage bake with tinned toms and broccoli. I think it's a receipe from Sainsburys but either way it's very tasty.
I suppose I could do with pushing the duster round and the vac but to be honest I think I am more likely to go back to bed for a nap when DD goes down for hers. Didn't go to bed until 11.30 (was watching the last episodes of Lost!) so will be seriously flagging by the afternoon.
Anyway have a good day all, OS or not.
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks

    Morning.

Hectic weekend of meals out and entertaining over with. Rained most of the time and cold too! Garden got plenty of water, we now need a good few weeks of warmth and sun to make things grow.

Back to work today, so after 5 days off I am ready to get back to it. Tackle out for fishing on Friday, so looking forward to that..

Not much new here. Watched the last part of Islands last night with Martin Clunes.... bit disapointing really, no where near the depth of interest as in the Scottish isles.

    Well have a nice day...

    Morning Everyone

another grey and grim morning here.Where's the sunny weather gone we were promised?

Taking the kids to Hollingworth Lake today weather permitting. We were supposed to be still camping so I've let them have the two days off school anyway so we'll have trips out to make up for the loss of the camping trip

OS wise I've still got the carpets to shampoo and I've some sewing to do.I'll flick a duster round and vac later.I'll make some scotch pancakes for the kids for brekkie as they love those.

well better be off have a good day all

Morning Chums ,up with the lark this morning ,joints are a bit achy so hence the early rising, must be rain on the way.Colds a lot better though ,paracetomol every four hours works for me and doesn't cost a fortune either.
Today I have the school run with my three youngest DGS and the another one at lunchtime with my two DGD's who have their Math GCSE's this afternoon, better them than me.
No sign yet of this wonderful summer thats due,my brother phoned me from his home in France yesterday, and even he was moaning about the rain.
Going to do some veggie soup in the SC today to use up the wilting vegatables. Chop 'em all up and bung 'em in with some stock and by tonight I shall have three litres of veggie soup for my freezer, cheap as chips and twice as nice. I must get down to making some birthday cards this afternoon as I have several family birthdays on the horizon.Only 9 weeks today until my DD and I flit off to Amsterdam to see U2. <<Hugs >> to those in need and a big :) to the rest of you Have a good Monday, and hopefully the rain will hold off so I can get the washing done
    Cheers JackieO

    Good morning:hello:

Well, the sun is trying to break through here but it doesn't look brilliant. my poor little veggies look quite battered after all the wind and rain we've had.
Back to work but only a 4 day week as have booked Friday off:D
DD2 has a heavy week of exams, starting today with a 4 hour photography exam, but she seems to be coping ok. Must phone DD1 tonight to see how her exams are going.

Should just have time to get BM and WM going beofre work and intend to pop in to Co-op as soon as it opens as that seems the best time for whoopsies. Dinner tonight will be omelette as we seem to have a lot of eggs in the fridge:o

Happy Monday evryone - will catch up later

    Morning All

We are lucky here and have bright sunshine, well at the moment anyway.

Just having a cuppa and writing todays to do list. Quite a lot on there but should be doable.

Chicken and chips for dinner, as have DS friend over who only eats chicken, no veg or anything else .
Also plan to clean cooker and kitchen windows and blinds so white vinegar and stardrops will feature heavily today. Wont need to do anything in the garden as oh will do that.

    Have a great day.

    Good morning all:wave:

Hope you've all had a good weekend. I have by and large although my kids have been making my very cross.

They all bicker so that mealtimes are becoming intolerable and as soon as the food is served I wish it was finished.

Ds2 has been in a silly mood all weekend and won't shut up about cars.

Ds1 keeps swearing-now he has started swearing under cover of acronyms eg !!!!!! (to his brother not us) and the like, he thinks we don't know what these things stand for but several years spent on internet forums and I know them all:rotfl:He's also started swearing in Spanish and French. I'm not sure whether to be impressed by this or not:rolleyes:

Dd just whines constantly. She has friends who live nearby and they all play outside in the road but now there are constant demands to 'go to x's house' or 'can x come to our house?' and tears when x goes out with her parents or when dd has to come in for meals.

Frankly I'm glad it is Monday:j I have my French class this morning which I love. I've also got a £5 M&S voucher courtesy of Directline Insurance. I'm going to spend it on flowers for me.

I'm behind with the breakfast so must get a move on -porridge and berries I think.

Lunch is soup for me and cheese and chutney sandwiches for the kids plus choc muffins and apples.

Tea will be a build-your-own salad. Cooked chicken, bacon, cheese, sweetcorn, grated carrot, salad leaves, hard-boiled eggs, avocado, tomatoes and whatever else I can find lurking in the fridge.

Also got loads of washing to get dry and some flapjacks to make for school.

DS2 has just shown me that all his school socks have holes in them. Now I should spend my voucher on socks instead:(

By the way, can I just make it clear that because my kids are annoying me at the moment does not mean that I wish them gone. I love them all to pieces.

    Have a good day all.

Well its a lovely day for the ducks here. That and the fact its monday all gloomy here!!

Not much os today as off to work. Dinner will be spaghetti with one of Lloyd Grossmans sauces (was half price!) and will maybe get a baguette and make some garlic bread. To be honest the littlies would much prefer just the bread.

Hope you all have a good day xxx
Although I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:

Morning everyone - hope you all had a great weekend?

It's not a bad day again today, a bit like yesterday which was a lovely day too. Saturday was a washout though :( I'm about to go and hang out the towels that were washed overnight and hope that they dry.

DH is off to work, he's on the 8 - 4 shift this week. He had some of the broccoli soup I made yesterday in his lunch bag. I'm off this morning, as we're getting cavity wall insulation installed. So, hoping they do a quick job and I can get back to work this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a good day :)
