Abbie ~ I'm glad that your Dad has come through his op well, but sorry that they have found he has more problems, sounds like you are all doing a good job of supporting him

Sarah Shattered ~ you must be so proud of your daughter, hope you really enjoy the beach tomorrow.

    Carol22.... sorry it's a bit late, but Happy Birthday:bdaycake:

Can I ask you all a question? Do you think that there is still a point in doing all this flying if you live in a house that does ( I'm afraid to say ) need decorating and quite a bit of doing up. My dh has just told me that he doesn't know if there is any point in me always tidying round if the underlying fabric of our house is basically tatty......trying not to take this too personally.....what do you think?

LilySue - tatty - I prefer shabby chic myself - and dirty are two very different things in my mind. If you feel better for flying and if you notice the difference then it is worth it. Clean windows will let the sun shine through and the room look brighter. Curtains which have been washed will look smarter. A neat pile of mags rather than them scattered everywhere will make the whole room look tidier. Hope that helps you decide.

I agree in part with your dh but if it was me a tatty house looks less tatty when it is clean.

Also when you do decorate it will be so much easier if you do not have to move everything first.

Is painting an option? Surprising what lick of Magnolia does to brighten up the place Nice and neutral.

I have a love for the colour Cookie Dough at the mo and want that in my conservatory.

My whole house needs decorating so i know what you mean when i am back on top form i will be stripping and paintint unless i can call in a few favours from the boys. Painter and Decorator in the family.

I felt like that for a while Lilysue, but like Quillion says - a clean house always looks better even if it's a bit shabby. I keep telling myself that anyway.

LilySue -I would say yes there is - even if it is in need of decorating I am sure you would still want to be tidy - I can see what he means too though but if you didnt tidy up and clean would it not feel more tatty? Thats the way I have been for the last few years - in the throes of needing to get work done but I still try to make it look presentable evn though its a nightmare!
If you are imminently going to be upgrading a room then I would see the point of not doing a huge amount but if the work is some way off then I would keep going as best i could to make it look as presentable as possible. Its having pride in yourself that keeps you doing it.

He is probably concerned you are working too hard and not meaning to be getting at you!

How you feeling hows the exams going.

I feel like I have done 10 rounds with a nursery full of 3 year olds!! I just hope this third lot of A's work.. I managed to get through some washing today and folded about 7 loads of dry stuff and had the children degrot the front room and middle room.. I mucked out the bunnies and the cat poo tray then cooked dinner (after washing my hands thoroughly :p) and was then absolutely exhausted!

the exams are both done.. got decent grades on the first and the second I've not had back yet.

The children are meant to be out with dad from 10-5 tomorrow so I should get at least 1 assignment sorted then

weekend list will be available for anyone who is interested shortly.. just need to decide what to inflict on you all!

Whose children have half term this week? Do we need a little 'helpers' list again?

aargh why did I ground DS? No computer for me as he has been stuck in all evening...and it kept him quiet for a bit...
(I grounded him cos he broke a glass of milk in the kitchen - then refused to clean it up - or to even attempt to clean it up) He told GF I had grounded him for actually breaking the glass - no I am not that much of a tyrant I grounded him for leaving the mess...and refusing to even try to clean it up when asked...
and he has just had another go at me at full voice - thank goodness the neighbours are on holiday - though if they WERE here he would keep quiet as he has been warned by them before... (and quite right too IMHO he needs to learn to live alongside others)

Anyway I am here with a full listy almost done - four stars needed please Quilliononly bit not done is the dining room although I have dot-to-dotted in there as it gets the carp dumped in it from the rest of downstairs AND it's where I iron so a HHC tomorrow should see it finished. All things considered then that's a bit of a result for yours truly.
Supergirl (hugs) for your DD - I have two red headed boys in class and one came up to me all upset because the two of them, and me, were described as ginger nuts by another kid...
I managed to cheer him up by pointing out how much more interesting our hair colour is than all those boring blondes and brunettes but joking aside I have a boy of colour in class so I need to make sure he isn't being targetted either...

    Lilysue
you gotta keep it clean cos shabby AND mucky would be FAR too depressing...and the decutterign/tidying will make the pre doeoration prep that bit easier...

Ooh have decluttered some outgrown clothes to the Sally Army skippy thing and have MORE charity shop stuff to take...
