Sorry Triker, I know it's not funny and I feel really sorry for you, coming home to that must have been awful, but Quillion's comment is so funny!

Tooch - if you find that everyone has donor fatigue when it comes to sponsorship, I can recommend selling cakes! We made £300 at each of our cake sales at work (OK, so there was some extortion involved, as we refused to do anything for our customers unless they coughed up, but it was still pretty good!). You could either have a sale at work on an agreed day and advertise it, or take orders in advance, and then you know what you need to do. When I bake, I always freeze stuff, so over time I have enough for a sale... or I freeze leftovers if I've baked fresh for a sale, so that there is some there for next time (or emergencies!). If you were closer you could have the victoria sponge and half an orange cake that are still in there...

Jobs - got a rejection from one as I didn't pass the initial criteria on the screening questions. What's frustrating is that given that I already do this job somewhere similar, and that it's a regulatory role, is that I know they've put the emphasis on the stuff that you can learn rather than the stuff you need to know (i.e. they're looking for industry specialism rather than expertise in the discipline). So I have to make some phone calls tomorrow to see whether I can get my CV in through the back door ;) I haven't heard from the first one I applied for, but I'm not surprised as I was probably way over qualified (and I hadn't revised my CV at that point either...). However, I have just been given contacts for the company with the fantastic looking job which had closed before I could apply... so I'm going to make some calls there tomorrow.... just need to tweak my CV AGAIN!!

Miss A, please can you add my name to Toots card, thank you.

Re Soot, well my hoover (miele cat and dog) has only started playing up, blowing rather than sucking. :o

Tried to clear up what I can/could before I became overwhelmed and thought 'bother it' :Dmindful of Miss A reading this post.

Anyway then proceeded to burn my hand twice :o, once when I grabbed the burning hot spoon from the pan and then again when I tried to retrieve my pasta that I so helpfully managed to throw all over the sink when I was draining it.

Note to self don't pick up red hot pasta with your hand.:naughty:

Anyway I give up tonight, going for a grass of red and some tv drivel.

Ohhhhhhhhh nooooooooooo. I came in from work and most of the contents of the chimney are all over the living room. Carpets ruined...... everythings covered in soot.

Tried clearing up but its going everywhere.

We had a bit of a freak storm earlier just mega gusty winds and then huge downpours so I reckon it was that.

Basically we need to move everything out to get the carpet out but I can't face it. Hubby isn't home yet either so haven't told him either.

    *crumples on floor in despair*

Well.. if you had done as you were told in September your chimneys would be clean and swept.. :p.. next time listen to me.. for I am the all knowing prepared one!
