went to lithuania a few years back. vilnius is a lovely place. pretty cheap, some decent night life, no hoards of drunken brits. lovely looking women. check out the old kgb prison tour - scary place

I'd second that. Don't stay in Kaunus though but in Vilnius there's plenty to do and like riquelme says do not miss the KGB museum it's a must. You can also go shooting there and if i remember rightly a bit of Bob Sleighing.
    Cheap too.

I know someone who thought he was going to Benidorm for his stag night but actually ended up in Whitley Bay (the lads were having a little joke) and had a great time although got upset when the pubs wouldn't take his euros!!

The Whitley bay trip sounds like more fun than Benidorm.

I don't want to 'pee on your parade' but I advise that you think this through before you start booking anything. Try and make sure that everyone who's invited can afford the trip.

If you're at the age where a lot of you are getting married then it's likey that there's going to be quite a few stag-dos coming up. If you're the best man then of course you want to arrange a blinder of a weekend. Every best man wants to do that but if people end up pulling out at the last minute because they can't afford it then it could end up costing you a lot of money and also being a bit of a crap party.

Hope you have a great time wherever you end up,

    S.

Would def be a good idea to get deposits up front. Eastern Europe is going to be cheaper because of the currency. I really liked Prague and it is not as expensive as Paris by any means, although it is more expensive than it was... so is Paris. Barcelona to watch a football match with a beach nearby? I fancy Krakow although I've heard mixed reports about that. Portugal is cheap for beer, too, if that's relevant.

Thanks a lot guys. I certainly am bearing cost in mind, and will explain to everyone exactly how much things are likely to cost up front, before we book anything. I don't expect everyone will be able to afford the money or the holidays from work to come on a stag trip abroad, so we'll be arranging a "home leg" too... :)

The more I read into this the more I'm drawn to Bratislava... It would certainly be somewhere different, the flights aren't too much and there are a number of hostels (with good reputations) who are quoting very favourable prices. Has anyone been by any chance...?

The only difficulty I'm finding when looking into this is that the phrase "stag do" (undoutedly quite rightly) puts a stigma on the group. It's not easy to persuade people over the internet that we aren't a bunch of mouth-breathing, shaven-headed !!!!!! intent on destroying their entire city!

So that's extra cost for those that go abroad and an extra passout, doing one stag do that everyone can go to would be better.

I don't think that's the case at all, having two stag dos/weekends has been pretty common amongst our group over the last few years. I'm sure that people who couldn't make it to the "away leg" (parents, uncles, family friends etc) would still be absolutely thrilled for the groom to go somewhere exciting and have the best time possible! Then the "home leg" (invariably a day-long pub crawl on a locally-owned privately hired bus) is open to one and all.

I don't think we're been selfish, we're just trying to do our best as best men. No-one's going to have a gun pointed at their head - Stag dos are supposed to be fun!

try somewhere like seville or cordoba which are easy to get to relatively cheap and tapas is perfect for large groups, weather should be good and there are plenty of other things to do apart from drinking!
dates are important; look at when easter and whit school holidays are and you probably wont see the flights appearing until oct
If you are planning on doing lots of drinking I would avoid Seville £5.00 a pint in March. I would recommend Krakow or Wroclow if you can get cheap flights to them, both got cheap acc and drinks.
