Stag do abroad? (Apr-June 2010)

Hi all,

I'm one of three best men for a wedding taking place next summer, so - naturally - stag do discussions have started already! We're toying with the idea of going abroad, although not necessarily too far afield - ideally we'd be flying from Edinburgh or Aberdeen.

We're not really interested in the go-karting/paintballing side of things, or any "package deals" where your visit is planned in advance to the nth degree, we'd rather find a nice place, a cheap hostel and a low-cost way of getting there! As indicated in the subject line, we'd be looking at arranging this for between April and June 2010, so hopefully have plenty of time to be ahead of the game..

I thought I'd post this incase anyone has any experience of planning what we're thinking of doing. All suggestions are welcome!

    Hi,

I recently spoke to a gentleman who lives near Prague and I explained how it was becoming a popular spot for stag parties which come with there own interpretations! He told me his company organise different weekends for stag parties which include excellent hotels and tank racing! I though this was brilliant and fancy this for my children as I have already got married! Sounded great as it meant a weekend away from the bars all day, too much beer and everyone feeling worse for it!!

So, do you just want the basics such as hot weather, gurls in bikinis and football on the telly in the bars?

    Thanks for your replies guys!

In terms of the basics - we really just want a friendly, affordable place, somewhere kind of unique would be great. I can't say I like the idea of the "package" stag do holiday, but we'd look at what activities are available when we decide on a destination..

I've had Prague recommended to me in the past, but apparently prices are now almost in line with Paris? Bratislava looks appealing...

A consideration with an unpackaged stag do is not to book you all on one accommodation booking, then the place where you're likely to stay doesn't get worried about a large group. So pick a largish hotel/hostel away from a bank holiday weekend and have a max of 3/4 per booking.

I wouldn't say Prague is anywhere near as expensive as Paris, and there certainly aren't as many French people!

I went on a stag do a couple of months back and accommodation cost us about £60 each for 3nights in a nice apartment on Wenceslas Sq and beer was about £1 a pint. Flights cost about £11 all in and transport from airport is £1 each way.

    Which airline/airport was this with?

Thanks again for all your replies, they're great food for thought!

try somewhere like seville or cordoba which are easy to get to relatively cheap and tapas is perfect for large groups, weather should be good and there are plenty of other things to do apart from drinking!
dates are important; look at when easter and whit school holidays are and you probably wont see the flights appearing until oct

Have you all checked with your wives/girlfriends yet as they do tend to pull their faces if their menfolk try and slip the leash?

A few friends went to Krakow for a stag do. Have been myself and its a wonderful place if its not sun and sea your after. Plenty to see and do plus loads of bars and clubs.

Might get a few ideas from here? - http://www.stagabroad.com/krakow-weekend/?gclid=COnijeyRxJoCFRIgZwodsS27rg
