Ooh I love a new diary *subscribes*
Don't buy everything new if you don't have to - you would be amazed at the quality of stuff you will find on:
* Freecycle
* Gumtree
* Charity shops (Honestly, our local Barnados is amazing!)
Check out the Shabby Chic thread on Old Style as well, there are some inspiring ideas on there.
Most importantly though, enjoy the time with the nipper while you're away from work0 -
Thanks to everyone for the replies, its good to have some encouragment on the road to debt-freeness (I dont think thats a word). With regards to buying new verses old things we need loads of bits so we have a plan of how we will sort out what to get. Anything bulky that is hard to move we will buy new like the sofa and appliances. we have basics like beds and dining table which we will take.
I have ordered some bargin bits like curtians from ebay and will be searching our local second hand shops for other things. They will last us until we are debt free.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Just popped in to say hello, and to remind you that you won't have to pay two lots of council tax for up to six months if one property is completely unfurnished.
Also why don't you do a Statement of Affairs for the next couple of months, then a new one when you are in the new house?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Thanks fire fox, I managed to get the council tax exemption, thanks for the post though as I didnt realise that the other house had to be unfuinished. You prevented me from making a big mistake and moving a load of furniture this weekend.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0

I am so happy to be able to say that we are now home owners! I cant really believe it finally happened. we spent the weekend there on an air mattress. I just cant believe how much space we have got for our money we really did get lucky with this one. Ill try putting up some pictures if i can figure out how.

it is a nice home0

We could never have done it if not for the house price drop, most of the other houses in the road for sale are still on at £240,000. I like the room you can see from the garden with the patio doors open best, the previous owners called it 'the den'. I just cant wait to live there.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0

The pictures actually look better than it is. We will need to decorate and replace carpets eventually. Also when we are debt free we will be saving to replace kitcken and bathrooms.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0
