Thanks for that we will look on samknows and see what is available hereThe birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Oh,its just repackaged BT Wholesale? Thats ok,im on O2 LLU
yup, i just switched to O2 from Be, interesting thing was the service works on the Be box still!
ofcourse O2 own Be so i wasent that surpised, although post office broadband was shoved infront of me the other day, the guy at the post office didnt understand the fact that its a repacked BT wholesale product, inferior product and service ? thats the BT wholesale service for you!
my advice to anyone is dont use a BT or Wholesale based product the service is poor for everyone i know whos used it, use samknows.com and check who is LLU which means they have their own equipment and dont rely on BT!0 -
I've had 02 broadband for months now and its fast and never had a prob! £7.99 a month!!! I watch videos etc no probs.0

Perhaps you should have explained more in your first post as your problem is well known on O2 access in certain areas, however I think that you will find that those speeds are within ADSL limits even if they are really crap!Like I said, I assumed most people on here would know about the o2 access problem so saved myself the task of writing it specifically.I know what it is and it tells you what ADSL speed you can expect on your line.
Didn't see the other links next to the summery, sorry. But it just confirms what i got form the BT speedtester. 8Mbps.
If you re-read my first post though its asking for help regarding any regulations or legal info.
Can we get back on topic please.0 -

The £7.99 package is an LLU package not an Access package.0 -

Yes but if you paying £7.99 then you are on O2 LLU. The OP's problem is that he is on O2 Access, which is just a rebranded BT Wholesale product.
I don't think there is any legal comeback on this, as the regulatory definition of broadband is a minimum speed of 512 kbps, which seems to be the slowest rate that the OP is achieving. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Actually at 10:02pm I had 294kbps, 9:12 was 330. been like this all day. And is also like this every evening.
What is the link for the 512kbps details?0 -

Nobody actually gets 8Mbps on BT wholesale and I doubt that samknows says that you can! What speed does your router actually sync at?
Legally you haven't got a leg to stand on, you are suffering from congestion but are still getting what are specified as broadband speeds even if they are slow. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Actually it did, I live rather close to the exchange. When I was first on O2, for the first month or two I was receiving the full 8Mbps, then it went down hill VERY fast to what i've got now.
They finally acknowledged they had a congestion problem in march, this is after 3 complaints, and they said a mid-april fix would be in place and should get us normal speeds back. It did... for 2 weeks. Then back to this.
Somehow I doubt 294kbps down is classed as broadband, i'd say dial-up.
--Edit--
My router says my line can achieve 448 / 8,128 (Up/Down).
BT speedtester also says this0 -

...which leads to a 7150kbs profile (the loss is due to overheads)
up to 8mbs is not...ever (on adsl) 8mbs...
..though on O2 access at the minute it's a bit pityful...my 1st 12 month contract in a long time (and likely to be my last)...the grass isn't always greener...:(Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
