A game I often play with the MATHLETTS on long journeys is to pick a subject, girl's names, boys names, vegetables etc and then go through the alphabet so each person in the group has to say a girls name begining with a before you can move onto b and so on.
You could learn some card games, whist, pontoon etc and play for matchsticks.
Scrabble is another fab game that is educational too. I have a book of scrabble scores going back to the 1970's. LOL
Soduko is my favourite time waster at the mo. You can print the same puzzle off the internet and have a tournament to see who finishes first.
Whatever you decide to do good for you turning off the google box and spending some quite together time with DD - you don't get a second chance to do it once they've grown up:TLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
If she is old enough, why not teach her to knit? I used to make scarves and ties for all the family when I was a kid! Hmm.. I wonder where they all went? I never used to run out of wool, no matter how many I made.

Perhaps they unraveled them all and tied it back on to your yarn?

My DD's love story tapes. We have a huge collection, a lot of which I bought very cheaply from ebay. We also borrow them from the library. We put them on when we are doing something like crafting, painting etc and they get sucked into it without realizing they are even listening. Or failing that you could just read to her yourself, it doesn't matter what age you are most people love listening to a good story. Or get her to read to you, depending on her age of course.
You are lucky though, I never seem to get five minutes to sit down with my two.0 -
How about the job that I never ever seem to get round to finishing , sorting out all the photos that are stuffed in a couple of shoe boxes....if you have an old frame of some sort you can cut out bits of the photos and make a collage of photos... its great fun and family members then play 'spot themselves' whenever they come around...... :T :T :T#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

The evenings, especially in the winter, can be very long and very lonely. I try to waste time before bed on the pc, looking at anything and everything. Is there something that you could both find on the pc to help pass the time together. Perhaps research a common interest, or a family tree. I know my sugestion is not old style, but anything that helps you both can only be good.0

My kids love doing jigsaws. You can get them at the library and work on them each night.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

Start making your Christmas cards early. I always keep my old ones from last year and cut out the pictures on them and mount them onto a new card and add glitter glue. My Mum & Aunt now have a craft evening every week where they all get together with a few friends and pool all of their crafting stuff to make cards. :T:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0

My son and I have spent the past week pricking out seedlings which he will now care for. I sell some of these at the school fete (money goes to school of course) but the remainder I take to a car boot sale, along with my other junk. My son gets to keep any money from the plants. He usually does better than me, in fact he has quite a little following of customers now! He asks them to return the flower pots to our house for next year so they know where to come (crafty!)Love living in a village in the country side0
