I'm sorry to be negative about this, but I don't really understand why saving loose change/cash in a physical container is seen as being a good way of saving (for whatever reason, not just mortgage). The value of money doesn't change when it's loose change compared to a number on the bank balance. I prefer to just look at my spreadsheet and make a decision on how much I am going to allocate or save.Happy chappy0

Before i had my mortgage pig, any loose change just stayed in my purse, and was spent on goodness knows what. Now, it goes into the pig, along with any savings i can make (for example, a coupon for money off a product, that saving will now go in the pig, if i make dinner instead of having a takeaway, the savings from that go in too).
So, im not actually saving money that i would normally have available for savings, im just using any money i have differently and thinking about whether i really need to spend something before spending it!!!! Having a 'physical container' also reminds me that i have a goal and encourages me to think about it, rather than spending on things that i can do without.0 -

Different strokes for different folks..... it's not as if we name them or anything
.
Seriously, I transfer money regularly on line to mortgage account. But having [STRIKE]peefer [/STRIKE] a physical container reminds me of what I'm trying to achieve - results in less loose change to put in it as I'm spending less so more left in bank at the end of the month to do it 'the grown up way'.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0
