Unexpected cheque today - woohoo! A little bit over £20 so has taken my over payment to over £600. Got some stuff to put on ebay so hoping to squeeze just that bit more into last couple weeks of May.0

Don't forget, it's sweepstake time again! Get the World Cup sweepstake going at your place of work (or pub etc), £2 a ticket, you'll be laughing when those £2 coins come rolling in. It worked for me on the Grand National, and here goes again!0

Thank you AliasOjo...
I've just started using the forums joined in December and already I have used a lot of the money saving tips.
I must say your idea has by far been the most productive one yet...with me it's buying my son a Happy meal when I'm near a Md at lunch-time...now we eat before we go out....what a saddo we make our own fillet-of fish burgers with that rubbery cheese that he likes and the £2 goes in the 'pig' (well the flowery bowl).
I have just put £23 of change (6 months worth) into the bank and transferred it to our mortgage account. My son helps count and sort out the change. A great way of getting them to save at an early age.
Another idea I got the forums is to ask your mortage provider for their sort code and account number and transfer any odds and sods at the end of the month.
Good Luck with lowering those mortgages
Happy Money-saving guys!
NubsNubs loves to save!
"I can make it at home for free...with a small aubergine!"
Martin's website has focused me on where my outgoings are...I do a big shop once a week.
Mortgage overpayments are coming along nicely
Looking at switching energy provider - will save £88
Cooking at home...food bill lowest ever!0 -
Nubs - go on to www.topsecretrecipes.com and look under the mcdonalds recipes etc - it tells you how to make the foods and sauces so it tastes just like (and better) than the real thing - I'm loving it!0

Wow -just read this whole thread and am totally inspired!
In between reading I've just got two pigs off e-bay (I know ridiculous postage but it will get me off to a good start) and am now the proud owner of a large ladybird (I guess called lady until I get a better idea) and a cute little dog (tramp I guess to fit the theme).
I've got a couple of hundred quid to go off the credit card and another few hundred off an overdraft (interest free thank God!) but then am saving for a new bathroom.
I'm thinking spend a penny at the moment (except inflation has it going up to £1). At £1 a go several times a day and spare change when available I should be somewhere near over the next few months. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Good luck jessicamb - have to warn you its very addictive!0
