  • After reading this tread i decided to join the gang and get a mortgage pig. Percy the pig is now seated very prominently on our kitchen window sill. The intention is that as well as the normal monthly overpayment, percy will also be emptied every month for a "brucey bonus". Percy will be fed with money saved on grocery coupons or special offers and change left over from nights or any other savings from the budget that we make :D

I've also dusted off my mortgage pig (but only because I'm supposed to be cleaning my kitchen instead of being on here). The pig has been in constant use for one thing or another since I was first given him. He's a 1969 'flower power' pig and named Ashworth after the poor young teacher( fresh out of Uni and only male on the staff) who had the misfortune to teach a group of giggling sixth form convent school girls A level Human biology.
I also have a mortgage cat called Tuppence ( after my first cat)- he holds 5p coins, the only thing his slot is big enough for
  • wow!

I'm inspired by you all who have mortgage pigs. I'm proud to say that in true Money saving thrift I have "recycled" a jar and lid and this will now be my mortgage pig.

I will put in all £1 and £2 coins I get into here and every 6 months or so add the total to a mortgage overpayment.

Hey guys, thought I'd get involved in the mortgage-pig action :) although i don't have a house or a mortgage :o but I am in a (albeit small) bit of debt, so my plan is to stick coins and the occasional note into my friendly pig, and see how much I have in a couple months' time :)

Just dug this pig out of the loft - I randomly bought her (it is a her, I think!) whilst travelling around Asia a couple of years ago and haven't ever used her, well now she's gonna get fed everyday! Stuck in about ten pounds' worth of coins I had in my drawer, gonna top it up from there :)

I bought my mortgage pig yesterday - a bargain at 49p!

I know he is Irish (it says so on his side!), though I am still trying to come up with a Celtic name that I can pronounce meaning Wealth or Propserity. Suggestions welcome.

He already had £12 in him :)

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

'Paddy the Pig' has a good ring to it:rotfl:
  • Or Shamus, as you should be Ashamed for not feeding him?

Eamon would be very appropriate - it literally means "guardian of riches" or "protector of wealth"!!
