The funny thing is that I got a parcel at work last week and it was a money bank pig in blue:j :T It was posted to me from a new agency that I now work for. I was thinking of leaving on my new desk at work, but now after reading this thread and the mfw board, it definetly coming home with me tommorow night and gonna take pride of place on my new breakfast bar in the kitchen!:T :T
my and oh always have a load of change, that will go straight in:D might help to keep motivated as well!!
I like the idea of a visual prompt, we are more likely to use it :A
This thread has motivated me, I am going to sell again on ebay, I used to do this during my final year at uni, and got good at it, used to make about £200 a month.
I will start to sell my books again on amazon, this in the past was also a good earner, one summer i earned £600 in six weeks on there. Apprentice tycoon on here, had a thread on os thread giving us tips that were really good!
ok, I am off to find some change :j :j'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'

Well we've started our mortgage piggy off today! We already have a couple of pigs on the go - one in which we chuck all our loose change (anything 50p and below) which goes towards our holiday, and another we throw a couple of ££ a week each into - that will be emptied in December to take with us to the Good Food show - we go each year but it always leaves us short with being right before christmas. The idea behind the mortgage pig is we will throw any cash we make a conscious effort to save in there. So, today I washed the car by hand rather than taking it to the jetwash - £4 in the pig. Money will go in when we cook rather than having a takeaway on a Friday night, or walk back from the station instead of getting a taxi after a night out, that sort of thing. We're going to make a diary note to count it up once a quarter and whatever is in there goes on the overpyament.
Thanks for the idea! :T🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Just wanted to say how fabulous your idea is. Very simple and yet helping everyone focus into what the pig really means. My partner has a huge pig that he drops change into, but he is always raiding it when he gets short of money. Out of the two of us, he is the most 'challenged' when it comes to saving money! :rotfl:
So I have stolen Percival the pig and he is now living in the hall with a lovely sticker on the front, telling us why we are saving the money (Christmas for us - we have an interest only mortgage so can only repay 10% extra a year - at Christmas!) and the rest will go towards the rest of the expense of the festive season!
I am new to this site, but have already followed links to shopping tips and bought my first items with 'money back guarantees' on, as suggested on here so have taken my first baby step towards becoming a true Money Saver! Next stop, an ISA...To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Well, 'Will' the savings pig has worked hard these last couple of months generating some holiday spends... we go for a week's holiday in about 3 weeks :j
He will be dedicating himself to our NewLifeInTheCountry now, anything over from the holiday spends will make a good start! :money:0 -
It's great to see so many of you doing this. More power to your pigs!
Unfortunately Herman is going hungry these days as I have so much I need to do and pay for, but he will be fed at some point again, lol.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Its funny Aliasojo, I always feel really happy to see you posting on this thread again after reading from the beginning when you were worried people wouldn't get you idea. But I also feel sad that you are back on the mortgage market. Hope it is going to be gone again soon.

Aw thanks Batgirl.
I haven't got a hope of clearing my mortgage again I dont think. The best I can hope for is to reduce it as much as poss. It's very frustrating and annoying tbh but hey ho, that's life as they say.
Money is flowing from my house like water from a burst dam right now because of things I have to pay for but as soon as that's over, Herman will be getting his little wiggly tail firmly back into action. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
I had a peek in Monty the other day and I have over £50 in there. It's ok, but not really set the world on fire for 5 months work!! I fed him £5 yesterday as I cashed in a whole bag of 5p pieces, and I'll plod along. I guess £50 is better than nothing and if Quidco sort our their declined payments fiasco, I'll be able to add treble that to the pot!MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000
