Took me ages to count Scratchy's April takings. Finally got around to it and it was £59.00 spot on! Dead chuffed with this. We seem to be able to save a good £50.00 a month which is fantastic.

Hate to say it, folks, but did you know you can take change to many Sainsbury's; they they have a change machine that you get a receipt for (dont' put 50p or £1 in) and get bills from a till?? Cost is 7p per £1 put in, but when you have tons (in weight) of change its' worth it!

I did that with the change my OH had a couple of years ago........ he got £380 that night!

    hi there
I read this thread this morning..and was soooo inspired i went for a rummage upstairs (im in the middle of packing up for a 3 year stint in germany).any way i dug out a pair of sheep, a cow and an elephant money box...sooo im starting my own farm - ok so technically an elephant is a bit out of place in a zoo...but hey ho!
i now have to work out my bubbles... i would put a piccie in but have no idea how lol
    thanks for the inspiration...jill

Or what about investing once in a coin sorter (usually about £15 - most gadget sites do them) just google 'coin sorter' - i've got on - they are massively helpful and a lot cheaper in the long run than using the machines in the supermarkets

  • We've had an absolutely awful month moneywise, with a clutch needing repairing on one car and mot and tax on the other plus various other things going wrong or needing paying at the same time. Nonetheless we still managed a £70 pain free overpayment for May out of the odds and sods thrown into the pig and cow. Goes to show how the bits and pieces add up when you don't even realise.

  • ... and he will now help me cut my mortgage at the same time as cutting my waist measurement as I am going to feed him all my chocoholic spends. This should save approximately £2 per day= £14 per week= £728 per year. I am going to give him a speech bubble and a prominent place to remind me daily.

I don't care how much cutting out the chocolate would save in a year, I won't be joining you on this one, sorry!

But I could try cutting out the lattes and taking a flask to work instead... This should give Pat my mortgage cow an extra fiver a week.

This is a brilliant idea - I will try it as soon as someone can advise me where to buy a cheap pig?!
