How rich would you have to be to pay for business class flights?

Would you pay for business class flights if you could afford it or do you object on principle to paying several times more than the people in economy? Maybe you already do pay for business class because you feel the better service, legroom etc is worth the extra expense. I know a lot of people in business class are there because the company they work for pays for their ticket, but some people are paying for themselves. At what income level would you feel comfortable paying for your own ticket?

I think business class is a rip off and would not pay for it no matter how rich I was

How long is the flight, is it over night?, at meal times?
I paid £200 for BA business class LGW-BCN return once because it was at a very peak time and cheaper than easyJet and BA's own economy fares, and a special celebration weekend in BCN.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I suppose I was thinking of long haul destinations as this is when the extra legroom, better seat bonus really kicks in. I once by accident paid for a business class flight to munich by pressing the wrong button on the ebookers website. The food was better in business class but the seat etc was pretty similar to economy.0

I'd only do it for longhaul when the extra legroom really counts and the cost is not astronomical plus it should be a special occasion - the cost differential otherwise is too much unless you have a lot of free income0

So what did you think of BA business class on your trip to Barcelona? Would you pay the extra again? £200 sounds like quite a good deal given that other airlines were more expensive. Did you load up on drinks and snacks to get your money's worth?!0

Exactly, and with some airlines offering split class ticketing you could fly one way in premium economy on the daytime leg of the flight and return in business class on the nightime leg of the flight.
When on sale and travelling off peak the extra cost over economy per hour on say a 14 hour flight can be smallish.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

It was just a situation where I really wanted to go and it was very peak time, if the same situation arose I would do the same again, in the circumstances it was a good deal. Yes we enjoyed the food and champagne and didn't have to go out for dinner when we got there.
BTW former Bond girl actress Fiona Fullerton was on the same flight, so a little bit of goss was a bonus.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

Worth every single penny of the around £1900 cost: a great part of my holidays, zero jetlag, and absolutely no back pain throughout the entire trip (which I suffer a bit).Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -

A colleague of mine did the same as you. She has had a bad back since an accident. She has also flown economy. Her husband said it was worth it just to not have her moaning all the way.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
