    See, now I love you!

BTW - I meant to ask: was it Carrickfergus castle you headed off to last weekend for the maediaval thing? We went to something similar this time last year when we were over visiting, and the kids really enjoyed it. I know you didn't manage to get in this year, but its well worth a try next year again if its on. I was envious of Barrys though - haven't been there for about 30 years! Is Morelli's ice cream place still just across the road?

No it was Downhill, the remains of Mussenden Temple (not quite a castle, but anyway !!)
We went to last years at Dunluce Castle and it was fantastic, but quite a wee drive to get to it !! A bit disappointment to have missed it as last years was great fun, but I think the walk would have killed me !!

Morellis is in Portstewart - you have been away too long :rotfl:

Nicki - I don't think you look as too big as you did before tho :D (if u can understand that well done!)

Thanks Sami. Although I do have to confess that I have already outgrown some of my maternity clothes, and have had to go for more in the next size up! I am wondering whether to keep the stuff which is now too small for the way down, or just to trust that the bump will go quite quickly and its not worth it. The other two times, the bump was virtually gone by the time I left hospital, but on the other hand it also didn't make its appearance until much later on in the pregnancy, so who knows what will happen this time round  I've decided my tummy muscles must be like knicker elastic - you might just about get away with wearing a pair for 18 months without them falling round your ankles, but 27 months is definitely pushing it too far :rotfl:

Come over to visit - though Coleraine isnt getting the best publicity at the minute :(

Why do you never come over?

Why do you never come over?

We come over to visit 2-3 times a year, but I haven't lived in NI for 22 years. Tbh its too expensive to come over too much - even on the cheapie airlines, it usually costs us £500+ to come as a family, as I won't take the kids out of school for visits and the fares are always much more expensive out of term time. I do pay for my family to come over to see us too, which is much cheaper as they come in pairs not as a 4some (soon to be 5some!) and also off peak. Also because I haven't lived there for so long, I've lost touch with everyone other than my family, so there isn't a huge social buzz to coming, though its always nice to see family of course ;)

I haven't been to Coleraine for a long time. My granny lived in County Antrim for years though, but we were always in County Down and County Armagh when I was growing up.

He's fine :D Coped really well with the few seconds he was off all type of support and he's now enjoying being able to open his mouth, stick his tongue out, yawn and sneeze! :D They need him to keep his mouth shut to keep the pressure up, but he wouldn't do it so they're thinking of giving him a dummy to fill the gap - asked if we had any objections  I assumed that's from a nipple confusion point of view but obviously that's not an issue at the moment. Someone correct me please if you know of a different reason! :)

Both my boys had dummies in SCBU, only way any of us could get some sleep. They don't have the suck reflex and the dummy helps. Plus if it helps them sleep then when they take a feed from you, they should be more awake. Any difficulty in feeding was more down to their prematurity than dummy use.

Jabs, mine had them on time, same as a full term baby, but that was because they were a good size for gestation. Although I was advised to wean DS2 slightly early, but no idea if that still goes. As for 'developmental charts' they will use a corrected age, taking in his prematurity, but in his case like DS2's, don't even bother looking at those charts, they will only upset you.

And, on a practicle note, you may not have thought about it, but you can apply for DLA when he is 3 months old for personal care. If he were to get middle rate (or higher) then you would be entitled to carers allowance too (if you earn less than £95 a week) tax credits also go up, a lot (ours went up by about £100 a week). There will come a time when you will have to think about his long term care once he gets home (which he will), and knowing that you can be abkle to care for him and not struggle for money is a huge releif.
