How have you found it as they've grown up? Would you recommend the gap? Or would you say wait a bit longer?

The first year was easy, and I wondered why everyone didn't do it that way. The next two years were the hardest I've ever had in my life. Two wayward toddlers both always going in different directions! Worse than twins imho.

My youngest was diagnosed when she was 2 and a half with autism and severe learning difficulties, so comparisons after that probably don't really work. It hasn't been harder from age 4 onwards due to the age gap, but she's pretty much been stuck at a learning age of 2-3 whereas the older one is a mature 9. Without her problems they'd probably play OK together and be good friends and sometimes enemies in the way that lots of children are :D

With hindsight, I'd probably say that an age gap of 18 months to 2 years is probably optimum and it isn't a complete coincidence that this is what most people seem to have! Your body does take a hammering with pregnancy and breastfeeding and its probably better for your own health and the younger child's to give yourself a bit of time to recover and build up all your vitamin and mineral stores again before starting all over again!

Does Eve Violet Telfer sound good as a name? Violet was my Nana's name and I always planned on giving it to my daughter as a middle name. Although I think it may need another one before Violet to link them together?

thank you everyone, especially greent and tiamai, for all the kind words of support and sharing your experiences after I posted about my blood results yesterday, it is fantastically helpful just to know I am not alone (well, am not, have my lovely DP too but I think you all know what I mean). It's difficult to for me to check in here as much as I'd like to (pesky work!) so am sorry for the delayed thank you.

We've made an appointment to see the fetal medicine consultant tomorrow morning and from there I guess we will just have to see. I keep saying to myself, 1 in 11 means 10 in 11 good although in the middle of the night I woke up and thought, sod it, CVS and termination which in daylight seems to so very wrong. I couldn't, not having seen the heartbeat and it squirming around yesterday so much so it was tricky to get an NT reading. What will be will be, it's not going to be loved anyless. I am thinking I will wait for the 20 week scan to help us prepare for anything not "normal". Christ, what is normal anyway in this world!

On the ages, seems I am 35, how'd that happen!

And before I forget (senility or pregnancy brain?!) Happy Birthday and good wishes to mrs moc !

Thanks Nicki. Gives me plenty to think about especially the two toddlers point!

I suppose I'm think ing if I leave it two years I have next one at 36 then next at 38 and it feels like I might be risking not getting the third one, but then that's a daft way to think !
