Sorry to be nosey, but are you a runner ?

I'm only asking 'Cos I could do with some advise - I'm not a great runner, more of a gentle jogger really (or I was until I started this IVF cycle).
Anyway I keep reading conflicting advise on whether or not its OK to start running again now I'm PG.

If possible I'd love to be able to carry on,if nothing else it'll help keep my weight down - I had gestational diabetes with DS and not putting on too much weight on this time should keep the risk down.

Any hints or tips would be great.

Hi yes I am a runner have been for over 10 years, before I found out I was preggs I was running 40miles a week, now cut down to about 10miles if that.

Like you I was concerned about running whilst preggs but have been assured by midwife and doctor its fine and to just listen to my body and watch heart rate/blood pressure. I take it easy and jog now instead of running at a decent pace. Midwife/Doc said my body is use to running so it isnt a problem, but women who suddenly start to run when preggs could have problems

I'm getting fed up of my workmates/friends telling me to stop running...

If you havent already speak to your doctor.midwife xx

Thanks Sami, it did hurt before but nothing like this so only since Ive been 'interferred' with has it been crippling for want of a better word.

Il put it down to the pressure she was putting on an already sore bone.

nancmat - tell anyone who comments to stick it :p:D
I'll never forget the teachers at my dance classes - they carried on dancing 6 days a week through out their pregnancies and were back looking fantastic sooo quickly afterwards

Skinty - do you actually mean straight away?? that puts the fear of god in me! I was a complete exhusted mess for about 3 months after Chris was born and the idea of also having MS while doing that _pale_ I think i would just collapse and turn to jelly!

Brings back happy memories. DS1 was 4 months when we realised I was pregnant with DD, and in the first 3 months I recall just lying flat out on the bathroom floor, because I knew I was going to be sick again in the nearish future, and was too knackered to crawl into another room for a proper rest!

The only saving grace when they are so close together is that when they are really little they sleep for far longer than they do as toddlers, so you can often get away with a nap, or a long break to throw up, as worst case scenario they are safe in the cot, which would be harder if you thought your 2 year old might be falling down the stairs while you were incapacitated

In this Sunday's You magazine (with Mail) was an article about an Englishwoman living in France, had her baby there, no probs, but French medical staff actively encourage 'exercises' to improve one's internals (done on their version of NHS!) - then you can 'make love' again & have more babies!:rotfl:All this offered more or less as you've delivered the baby. :D

evening ladies - calling on your experiences (not medical advice!). Had 12 week scan this morning which was lovely - saw and heard heartbeat and baby moving around loads. Went to tell "in-laws" and smiles all round. Did a bit of pottering with lovely DP to make most of day off work. Sat down about 5pm and got call from midwife as am high risk for downs (bloods not back for combined screening at time of scan but came in at 20 past 4) - scan good, age etc results good but overall risk put at 1 in 63 as blood results had downs risk at 1 in 11. I am actually surprisingly OK but DP in bits. We will be calling midwife in the morning to say we want to see a specialist - she did say we could have CVS on Thursday but also we could just talk to specialist.
I know none of you can decide for me, I emphatically do not want to enter an ethical debate but I feel I really need to hear any of your experiences. If you can.

so sorry always. when we had the tests done we decided not to have any other tests done if the risk was high. it is a risk and not a definite.
a friend was told that her baby was highly possible to be downs and she said no to the tests. her little girl was fine when born

there is no right or wrong way in dealing with this and hopefully speaking to a specialist will help

dont know what else to say as i was a low risk
