Hi all...I'm currently trying to redirect the labour vibes towards those who need them, cos at the moment there seem to be some drifting over here!

I ended up in hospital again last night... I suddenly got this huge pain in my side which then moved down to my lower pelvis (but was not like period pain, just really intense and continuous) so spent an hour lying on my side hoping that it would go away and my DH asking me what was going on and reminding me that I did actually need to breathe occasionally! Gave up and phoned the hospital who told me to come in for monitoring. Fortunately I spoke to a midwife who had excellent English... one short line in French from me to say that I was almost 35 weeks pregnant and she replied in English (must be my impeccable accent :p)...so the conversation went a bit more quickly than it might have done!

Anyway, it turned out I was having contractions about five minutes apart, but things settled down after a while and whilst my cervix was effaced and nearly 1cm dilated, that's no different from how things have been since I went into labour last time. My doctor arrived and also did an examination. She asked me what I wanted to do...so I said "Go home", as it didn't hurt as much, so she let me do that, although we have to go back in if it starts being bad again. I'm not sure if it was labour trying to start again or whether my uterus was just having some sort of fit..or maybe both as I'm on drugs telling my body not to have contractions at the mo!

I'm sitting in bed at the moment, feeling a bit fed up and wanting doughnuts...which I can't have . We are missing the ante natal class tonight as at the moment I am walking around like a crab! Still, it only hurts when I move now, rather than the whole time, so that's a good sign!

Well, I seem to have written quite a lot of waffle, so sorry for the moan :o. I should get on with some more knitting baby things but can't quite be bothered!

DH has mentioned the idea that maybe we should think about getting a microwave before this baby is born. His idea being that with 2 little ones to look after (newborn and then 3yo), it might be a good idea to think about cooking some meals ahead (or extra like when we make lasagna) and reheating in micro some nights to save time. Who here has a micro or doesn't and is it a "must-have" item for you? Still thinking about it......

Triggles - I couldn't live without a microwave!! It's a life-saver in most situations, especially whenever I forget to take the meat for that night's dinner out of the freezer before work - quick defrost gets it thawed in minutes!

Our appliance-buy will be a (condenser) dryer. I want to go cloth diapers, but can't imagine trying to dry thick cotton things around the house in the middle of winter - would be impossible! My family (in the US) still can't fathom how we live without a dryer, since it's unheard-of in the US not to own one, but so far it's been okay. However, with a baby around, getting things dry in a reasonable amount of time will become far more crucial. Imagine only having wet diapers aruond when you run out of your last clean one!

You mean it's possible to live without one????

LOL - no seriously though it's a lifesaver when we've been under the weather etc as I try to make sure there are always some extra portions of soup and lasagna etc in the freezer in microwave tubs. I've been trying to stock up ready for Roos arrival and we're having lasagna tonight so any extra can go in - I tend to write on the lid what needs doing to it too so DH can work it out ;)

Aless - LOL - same here! Family and friends in the US seem to think we're living in the dark ages without a tumble dryer. But I don't mind not having one, even when we were using cloth nappies when DS was younger it wasn't a problem. We just made sure we had LOTS of them available so there were always some dry!
