I'm in agony <sob> why on earth did I agree to a walk round Ikea? My back is killing me, I can barely move... I spent the whole walk round feeling like I was going to pass out, leaning on a trolley and sitting on random chairs... On the plus side, I didn't buy anything... Apart from meatballs... But that's the law in this house...
Oh, and a girl came up to me and asked if I was having twins... I said no, but thanks... She went bright red and walked off... And as so often happens in Ikea... We kept coming across each other...
Going to go back now and see what I missed... And hope my back eases in time for the school run... Even had to take paracetamol it's that bad... I can't wait until I can have ibuprofen again!!
Oh, and midwife was pants... She offered to 'examine' me and see what was happening... (I had my aunt and cousin with me and there was another midwife there too) I politely declined... She said she'd see me next Tuesday instead then (term +9) I requested a home visit though... Sincerely hope I'm not still pregnant in a weeks time... And if I am, I certainly don't plan on trekking down the hill and back for her!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hi Triggles,
We have a microwave (old one from DH's granny) but I barely ever use it..it just sits in the corner and occasionally gets used for cooking potatoes when I want them quickly for a recipe. If I'm reheating something from the freezer I just use the oven...but this may be because I'm secretly a bit nervous around microwaves, having umm set fire to ours twice now. This is especially humiliating as I used to work as a research chemist, and really ought to be able to use that sort of thing without disasters occuring...I console myself with the fact that I did at least manage to put the fires out without electrocuting myself! I even had the microwave clean and smell-free by the time DH got home, but still ended up telling him, having spent ages hiding the evidence :rotfl:.

DH has mentioned the idea that maybe we should think about getting a microwave before this baby is born. His idea being that with 2 little ones to look after (newborn and then 3yo), it might be a good idea to think about cooking some meals ahead (or extra like when we make lasagna) and reheating in micro some nights to save time. Who here has a micro or doesn't and is it a "must-have" item for you? Still thinking about it......
Only use mine for cooking rice and baked beans which could both be done on the hob. If I have a steam pudding, I bung it in MW as it takes a fraction of the time. When I make a chilli or bolganese I reheat on hob, if I am re-heating lasagne it would go in oven.
It's not an essential but I do prefer having one.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -

Triggles - well, secretly I'm going to use baby as an excuse to have dryer...will be relief to have one, I think! I have gotten used to it after 3 yrs here, but my American upbringing yearns for fresh, hot jeans straight outta the dryer!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne
would like to win a holiday, please!!

Thanks for the input on the microwave. I can't say I'm sure we'll use it much - but I can see his point where sometimes he might just like to bung something easy in the microwave himself (like a frozen meal or something). Oh bother. I hate making these decisions. I'm afraid we'll get it and it'll just sit there - a big old metal box taking up counter room - and not get used.
Aless - ouch - nope - burned myself too many times on the snap/button of the jeans to wear them straight from the dryer! LOL The only time I really miss my huge dryer from the states is when I'm washing towels and sheets - so much easier! But I really love the smell of clothes that have hung outside on the line to dry.
Searching - we have a second freezer, which is pretty much an absolute must here with 5 of us in the house!MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0 -
well most eventful MW appointment!!
it was roasting hot so I felt a bit feint and I could feel my fingers swelling the longer I sat in there, MW had a little panic and wasn't 100% that bubs was head down  after being poked about by a 2nd MW it was decided that he was definitely head down, still fixed but not engaged.
Student didn't turn up to meet me
Advice has recently changed (ie in the last month) so because my dad n his dad have both had DVT I 'need' a blood test, so I've gotta get up early and OH is having morning off so I can have bloods done on Thurs morning at 8:45 :eek:0 -
