The SEL in Wath, Rotherham was £19.xx and scanned at £4.xx .... there was the upgraded one in boxes behind it (digital display or something?) but thanks to the excellent description about barcodes etc earlier I managed to get what seemed to be the most expensive on the display of 5 different models for the cheapest price !0

Can't quite believe my luck! I managed to pick up one of these in Tesco today (had written down the model and barcode details and stood there checking all of them!) and success, I found one.
It then went through the till without me having to say anything at £2.44!!! The receipt just describes it as 'L.E.D alarm'.
So they are now an even better bargain if you can find one!0 -
Just picked up a carbon monoxide alarm in Sainsbury's tonight for £4.99 from £19.99. Lot's of other 75% bargains, loads of lightbulbs etc.
it's Ei Electronics - model no. Ei204EN, barcode ends in 3925.

I was about to post on Grabbit when I saw this thread - I got a Fire Angel carbon monoxide alarm for £2.44 at Tesco yesterday, claimed to be reduced from the orginal price of £20 (though I think they were actually sold at £15), so 75% off. It says portable, but that just seems to mean it has a little carry handle as well as a stand. I'm not sure if this is nationwide as there were a few things reduced, but worth having a look if you are in Tesco.0

£2.44 is a great price - I feel I've been ripped-off now.

Good idea to take it on holiday is staying in rented holiday apartments that use gas
Also dont forget about other hazards around the home and in rented properties at home and abroad.
Many people suffer electric shock every year due to hazards and defects. Some die as a reswult or are badly burned or injured.
Buy yourself one of these..

You can use it to test for the presence of electrical current on any expose metallic surface thus avoiding any such hazard.0 -
Just bought another two, one for son and one for MIL.
Lots available at my local Sainsburys.

We have had this one for a couple of years and are happy with it - certainly had no problems and the batteries are still good.0
