Couldn't find one in my Extra.0 -
We opened ours and set it up and it made a strange noise. The manual states battery likely to be dead and to contact the manufacturer??? Any ideas please?0

Over 2000 people die every year from lung cancer linked to radon exposure, yet it's never in the news, and subsequently people don't bother testing their homes for it. Radon tests can be got for under £25, which would then tell you whether you need to take action to lower the level in your property (which is also relatively inexpensive).
Whilst I do agree with you and thank you for highlighting this, I don't think that people should ignore CO2, after all many many more people are killed on the roads each year and prevention could cost almost nothing, but that still isn't a reason to ignore CO2. I'm appalled that there is a charge to find out whether your home is affected by Radon though - I agree, more should be done to publicise this.0 -

pedant alert - CO2 is carbon dioxide. CO is carbon monoxide.
Good point about the radon - however remediation is that much more expensive, so if you found that your house is built over a place with high ground radon levels you wouldn't be able to sell it unless you had undertaken remediation.'You see the coefficient of the linear is juxtapositioned by the haemoglobin of the atmospheric pressure in the country..c'mon gajive join the party' :dance:0 -
Good idea to take it on holiday is staying in rented holiday apartments that use gas0

I picked one up from the Melton Mowbray branch. There were still three left. The price on the shelf was showing the original price at £19.56 reduced to £9.78 and further reduced to £4.89. However when the lady at the information desk scanned the item, it came up as £9.78. She let me have it for £4.89 after checking the price displayed on the shelf. This appears to be a different model though ( CO-9B ) Barcode :08163170010010

You were LUCKY
Obviously she must have been a bit "dizzy" or perhaps forgot her glasses and couldn't read the SEL properly.
The CO-9B model is on offer at half-price which makes it £9.78 and should not be available at £4.89
It's ONLY the CO-808 at this price.
I'm sure there was a SEL for the CO-9B at £9.78 somewhere.

Lucky you! I picked up the same model as you, couldn't see the one reduced to 4.89 but still thought 9.78 was worth paying, half the usual price. They had alot to chose from in my local Tesco, Rutherglen in Glasgow. I have been meaning to buy a carbon monoxide detector for some time so thanks OP for reminding me to buy one!
Just one point though. You do not have to buy a smoke alarm if you need one. Contact your local fire brigade and they will do a free home safety check. If you need new smoke alarms they will give you them free and install them for you.0
