seriously shand pants, after reading this are you still unable to understand where the average driver is coming from?
it could be a junkie who has o.d'd or it could be an average 5'8 who has had a heart attack, regardless, the law doesnt care so why should we?
morally you should do what ever you can to help, but nobody is going to help you in your time of need.
just for a moment imagine this situation happened to you,say after maybe 2 speeding offences you had 6 points and then within a week you had to jump a red light twice and received 3 points and a £60 fine on both occasions, would you happily accept the fact that it was all in the name of a good cause and let it not bother you?
    ...work permit granted!

I think that is part of whats wrong with society today.

It would bother me of course, but I like to think I would still do "The right thing" to suit the cicumstances at the time, and "think" about it later (in court possibly)

I repeat, I am not saying do ANYTHING dangerous.

If the law is wrongly convicting people then it need changing.

Its a shame there are no paramedics/police/fire officers on here to give their 'company line' on the matter and how they feel when faced with this situation.
:T If you don't have anything sensible to say, don't say it! :T

What a selfish lot you are. prepared to risk someones life against the very small chance that you might get three points on your licence.

But if there's a red light camera on the junction, there's no 'small chance' you will get the points/fine - you will get done for it! And there is no appeal either.
    :j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

If you're worried about a red light camera when there's a vehicle on blues and twos behind you, put your steering full lock and pull up to the stop line, getting your car even a foot over to the left could help them get through.
Personally, I will keep doing whatever I safely can to let the vehicle through

Hmmmmm... Maybe if the said traffic light did have a camera ontop and it flashed the car that had gone thru on red. Are these exact times, dates and routes logged with ambulance crewes if it ever went to Court?

What's needed is a new card system, like a donor card.

"In the event that my life is in danger, I don't wish anyone to inconvenience themselves, risk their life, licence or NCB. Please do not use blue lights, exceed the speed limit or needlessly delay anyone on their trip to Sainsburys."

That is the best strategy. If you cross 2 inches over the white line the RL camera will snap you. The databox on the photos will show however that you went over slowly towards the kerb- and stopped and show the number of seconds on red . The next offence as well (unless you are really unlucky) will be the emergency vehicle!

The people who get prosecuted for it IMV are those people who see the ambulance behind them, and use it as a good excuse to ignore the lights and just drive right through the junction or turn left on red, rather than letting the ambulance pass and waiting til the light goes green.

Oh and there is appeal on these fines- if you are worried go to court and tell your story to a Magistrate/sheriff.
