I hope I am never trapped behind you self centerd lot when I am moments from death traveling in an Ambulance.
Assess the situation!!
If it is SAFE for you to make room for the Ambulance, then MOVE!!!!
Think about your "livelihood" or your "licence points" later.
YOU MAY BE SAVING A LIFE!!
Oh and BTW give blood too. !!!!!!!s“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -

hmm really interesting. initially i thought the driver should edge forward enough to let the ambulance pass, i was thinking it may be an offence to block the ambulance. what i shock to read that you should not. perhaps the law should be reviewed to address this issue as i know if someone i know was waiting for an ambulance, i'd be horrified if it was held up because of another vehicle at a red light. that said, until the law does change, i'll be staying on the right side of the stop line, while myself dying of embarassment at my selfish behaviour in order to protect my driving licence (and pocket).0

Sometimes you can pull over in advance before a red light. If you're at the red light then the ambulance comes out of nowhere you're !!!!!!ed. If the ambulance driver is too !!!!!! to know the law, then it's them who is wasting the time and potentially killing someone.
Perhaps an easy way to sort this issue out is to make red lights turn green as an emergency vehicle approaches through technological means.0 -

I think this is one of those situations where law says one thing and social says another. All those people who pull over onto the pavement to let an ambulance by are probably breaking a law too. I think it's just one of those things that gets a blind eye turned to it. Which is somewhat imperfect
I've gone up the pavement a few times to let a 999 vehicle pass, I always check for pedestrains as I turn to mount it, I wouldn't just ram it up there.
I was behind a minibus with school kids one morning & we were approaching a mini roundabout, all the roads are one lane each way. You could hear the ambulance coming along the other road to join the main road (as we were, but on anoth sprig) & the three cars & minibus in front jumped to go when they could at the roundabout, I was so annoyed:mad: They should have waited at the roundabout & let the ambulance go.
The road is narrow but at least the ambulance stood some chance of getting around them, if they went up the pavement a bit, but he had no chance of getting around the minibus easily, plus the minibus driver as a professional driver should know better.
I tried to take his reg, I would have reported him:mad:0 -

The red light situation is unavoidable. If I am driving along and an ambulance is coming, I can check the road ahead and anticipate things that may prevent the ambulance progressing, and pull over well in front of a traffic island in the middle of the road clearly indicating to let the ambulance past - for example. At a red light if the ambulance is stupid enough to get right up behind me while I'm at a red light it's hardly my fault.
It's a shame they spent so much money on this advert but couldn't clarify the situation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J84dm5xRyXk0 -

maybe you should speak to the folk who make the laws of this land, not the people who are expected to obey them, if im going to be fined and penalised for the next 5 years on my insurance for doing a good turn then i simply wont do it. unless when you get better after your emergency situation you are willing to take the points and the fine for me....work permit granted!0
