Hi everyone, I am new here...for some reason stumbled upon the site via google when i was reserching Moh Doh.... However, had to take a peek at all the money saving ideas and i came accross this one!
Got out the phone and called sky right away.
Said to the lady, ive had an offer from virgin(even though we dont have virgin in our area) concerning the recorder box, and i was in two choices about leaving. The lady was fantastic, she said lets have a look on the database and see what we can do for you. She offered me a new sky+box for £50 and £30 installation OR a reconditioned Sky+ box (the ones they have in the store in the glass boxes?) for free+£30 i went for it. THEN! I called back a few days later and said my partner had been put on a four day week(true!) and we didnt think we could afford the movie channels any more, they offered me 30% off for the next 9 months. I am super super chuffed, I think i am going to spend all night on here now looking for tips!!!
    THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU! X:beer:

I know, i had them ring me up as my year with them is up and tried to get me to insure my normal sky box as they said i have to pay now if it goes wrong. is this right?

I will be doing as op suggested soon.

This is right, We've had so many phone calls from sky over the last week about our gaurentee has run out and we need to pay 6odd quid a month just incse anythin happens to the outside dish and the equipment! however, now i have found this site and managed to swangle the sky+deal this comes with an additional 7month gaurente, so, effectively not only have you saved me £159 for the sky+ you've saved me £47! x

As they go through with it you should say. hang on i will have to ring you back as someone is at the door. Put the phone down and ring 5 minutes later and try again. And keep on until you do get the deal. Maybe be very dithery so they hear that they can get you to stay if they upgrade you.

    ooo - that sounds great!

I am too nervous to do it :o- we actually want a sky+ in another room upstairs, (stop all the shouting and arguing between the darling cherubs)

but not sure what to complain about - apart from the obvious cost!!

    any ideas please?

    thank you

    Squashy

They have now opened this offer up to existing customers anyway - we have been with sky for 7 years, and have just upgraded to sky+ HD with multiroom and the total cost was £45 - for a new dish, a new sky+ box and installation.

I had a very good experience trying this out. Rang up and said i was going to cancel and they offered me free sky+ for £40 installation only and half price multiroom for a year!

Its we worth trying, even if you ring and they dont offer you anything just hang up before the actually cancel your contract ;)
