I paid for an Ebay item via paypal a couple of days ago, and have just had this from the seller:
I am sorry but I cannot claim the money you sent me via paypal because it was sent to the wrong email address. Paypal advise to cancel the payment and resend it to xxxxxxxxx@aol.com you sent it to xxxxxxxxxyy@aol.com.
But I didn't type an email address - I simply clicked on Pay Now. Has the seller (176 +ve feedback) registered the wrong address with Paypal?

That is a little strange. Have they sold stuff before? That would imply they've used paypal at some point and should have the correct email address. Its possible it could be someone else that has sent the email and the second email address is a different person.
I'd recoommend contacting paypal for them to confirm. If its been received then they'll know.0 -
Thanks - that's what I thought.0

What is the status of the payment that you sent, does it show unclaimed ?
You don't need to ask paypal, it will be quite clear from your own paypal account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi
I sell on ebay and have actually been in the same situation. When I was placing an item on e-bay and inserting the details I mistyped my e-mail address (E-bay wants you to type in the e-mail address that is associated with Paypal) I missed out the last letter in my e-mail address and received the same message that your seller has received.
OK I did "not" just do this once
- I did it twice on simultaneous occasions. One buyer paid without any problem and the other did not want to know.
I am now more careful about typing e-mail address.
I do think think this a new'ish thing as I am sure I did not have to type in my e-mail address last year when I was selling items. Does anyone know if there is a setting I can use to automatically have the address there all the time?0 -
Wierd, I have never been asked to type my email associated with paypal when posting. Maybe (i could be wrong) its because you havent got your ebay account linked to your paypal one?0

Thanks cyberbob. I will check this out.
As I said I am sure I did not have to do this in the past but now that I recall (vaguely) I had to get my paypal account re-verified last year and could not understand why. Wasn't doing anything wrong...:huh:0 -
My paypal address is there automatically whenever I list through any of my accounts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks - I couldn't log in to Paypal earlier, and haven't had a reply from the seller. It does show as unclaimed, so I guess I cancel and send to the alternative email address, unless you can foresee a problem with that.0 -
If the second email address is very similar to the first I would expect it to be OK. As I said in my case I had missed out the last number in my e-mail address.
The 2nd person that I had this problem with was unsure and even though I sent her a copy of the e-mail that I had received from e-bay she still would not purchase. OK she may have thought I could have made up the e-mail from ebay but for 3.49 ?
It was my mistake and her decision.
Hope this helps0
