Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 15th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread afterthey get up in the morning.
Morning. Friday, so last day for some before the weekend. Most will be glad to know I am back in my own dressing gown.
It's pay day for me and I am off anyway. Hopefully my car part will be in today early and the mechanic can put it all back together.
Had a Wetherspoons curry last night with the OH, Hot chicken massala, delicious! A few pints and change from £20 for both of us. Not too bad, I bet they are doing well in this recession.
Popped in ASDA for some milk and got a few reductions. I see their persil liquid, lenor, listerine, Kettles chips etc are all on offer. I found a few good deals. Wine 3 for a tenner is a bit carp though. I think I will be shopping in several supermarkets this weekend picking up the offers and filling the cupboards. Always seems to happen near pay day.
Off out tonight for a meal at a friends. They have a hot tub, so might take my shorts...
Wet here, so doubt if I will do much in the garden, Cheers folks and have a nice day
By the way, I was dressed when I went up the ladder.:D

Morning everyone.
Well rain, rain and more rain here. Severe rain showers predicted so I am hoping it doesn't completely crush my lovely veggies. They are under a very cheap poundland polytunnel which couldn't withstand much of a battering.
Supposed to be HM chicken chow mein tonight for tea BUT my parents have offered to babysit and have the kids overnight so my H suggested we treat ourselves and go out for a mealA local pub does a lovely chicken and leek pie and my mouth is watering at the thought of it!!
Not so tired today as DD slept til 6am so feel like I've had a lie in compared to restless night yesterday!
That being the case might clean the upstairs bedrooms this morning and give the kitchen a good scrub. Got to put another load of washing on. I hate it hanging round the house on the clothes horse but I don't have a tumble drier so no other option. Come back dry weather I miss you!!!!
Have a good day everyone OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Morning N9eav & all to follow,
Got up this morning and did the floors, washed. XDIL & DGS came up for m'tea and left just before lunch. DH home today. DD phoned me this morning from the ship to say hello. She's having a great time. Made a loaf of bread, ironed & went for a walk this arv.
Met up with DSis yesterday at the shopping centre. I lost my locket yesterday. I didn't discover that it was missing until I was sitting down waiting for the bus. DSis & I went into an accessories shop and tried on & bought a necklace. I must have taken it off by accident when I took off the one I was looking at.Wasn't there, gave the girl my phone no etc, went to centre management etc & rang the police station nearby today just in case.
Ended up getting late home. Bus broke down and we all had to offload  and catch another. I don't think I'll get it back. DH bought it for me on my 22nd birthday and I've worn it every since. Oh well, I've just have to think I've enjoyed 27 years out it, better than sitting in a jewellery box doing nothing.
Hope you all have a lovely day & hugs to those not well. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all
Wow its wet out there! Just got into work and my feet are soaking, good job I keep some spare shoes here.
Only do a few hours on a Friday so then it is off trawling round the supermarkets to see what bargains I can pick up.
Had a lovely tea last night of smoked haddock, tried the cook from frozen ones and got to say they were really tasty and handy to have in for a standby. Then went clothes shopping with both my DD's - ended up treating them to a new dress each for the wedding we have coming up in Ireland - knew I should have left my debit card at home! They deserve them though, they have both been so helpful and supportive over the last few weeks (re MiL).
Well nearly time for me to start work, I shall check on news later and catch up on yest thread.
Have a good (and hopefully drier) day everyone:D

P.S. Hope you get the locket back Aussielass"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D

morning all.
rain rain rain and set in for the day I think . I have woken up with a streming cold, sore throat, headache and all , so minimum housework today, I may have one wash to put on, and will then rest up a bit.
Tru, sorry to hear about chiccy Pink xx
TapLady, hope you manage to keep on top os ds work xx
Chilli and rice for tea, dd cooks on a friday, so its down to her :T:T
Ohhhh and the exciting news, OH comes home from the car boot each week telling me he has found something worth a fortune, now he has the odd bit here and there, but this week he came home with some unused boxed 1970's bycicle parts, which he bought for £10, he stuck them on Ebay, and they are up to ..............£160 :T:eek:, we have a bidding war going on with Japaneese bidders, apparantly they go mad for this stuff, which is great for us, the bidding ends sunday, so I will let you know.
Aussie, I hope you find your locket xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning All
Sorry to hear about your locket Aussie
Redruby - well done to OH :T
Its Friday :j but very damp and miserable here too, have made the executive decision of not doing any washing today, the forcast for tomorrow says dry (at the mom) so will aim to get it all done then.
Plan of action for today is bathrooms, shower room and kids bedrooms all to be cleaned. Vinegar will figure a lot today, we have such hard water here that I have to keep on top of the limescale all the time. Also need to make lasagne this morning for tonights dinner, DD has a friend staying over and I know she likes this.
Some office work to be done and would really like to do some baking but will have to see how I go with time.
I ordered a beginners cross stitch set off the internet which arrived yesterday - omg its def not for real beginners so over the weekend I will have another look. I am not artistic in any way and though would try crossstich - I get so inpsired by you lot posting photos every now and then of your handmade stuff.
Anyway that is far too much waffle this morning, so see you later.

Morning all,
Tru, I'm so sorry to hear about pink chick. I know how much you looked forward to getting them so I imagine you are upset. x
Aussie, what a shame about your locket..I really hope you get it back.
redruby, congrats to your dh on his find.
taplady, it's good that the college will work with you to sort things out for your ds.
D&DD, thinking of you today. x
Mr and Mrs Haribo, Happy anniversary!
It's dull and overcast here this morning but not raining yet. I've been out to open the mini greenhouse and I've got yellow flowers on the bush tomato plant and tiny buds on all the others! :j Plans for today are to make a card for Dad's birthday next week, clean out my car, make a cottage pie for tea and a pavlova to use up the egg whites I have left over from yesterday. Work tonight and then I have nine days off. I can't wait!
Ds1 has left to catch his bus so it's time to refill my coffee cup and waken ds2.
I hope you all have a good day.

Hi all - hope you are all well.
Aussie - I hope you get your locket back.
Redruby - what a fantastic result with the bike bits! Let us know what they finally sell for; we'll be longing to know.
N9eav - I bet the neighbours are glad you are back in your own dressing gown!
Well, DH is out working all day today so it means a whole day for me not having to be a builder's mate, and no interruptions! The BM is on, the DW is on (I stopped using one in the UK because of the cost of electricity, but it's a lot cheaper here!), and the WM is on.
Dinner is a lamb casserole in the Remoska. We get some lovely 'collier' of lamb here (which I assume is the neck), which makes a lovely casserole, so I'll prep for that this morning. I haven't made puddings since we arrived here, because there's too much going on; we end up with yoghurts or fresh fruit, which saves me a lot of work in the kitchen, so we'll be sticking with that.
It's been raining this week, with more forecast, so I shall have to hang the washing up indoors, unless it brightens up.
We had to trace a weird sound in the conservatory last night and finally tracked it down to a little cricket. We rescued it and put it back outside, but couldn't believe how much noise it made, for something small. We put a bird table up last week (well, it was something we found in one of the barns that a farmer must have made years ago - part of a tree trunk that had been shaped and mounted on three legs; it's very heavy but ideal) and we find lots of birds are using it now.
Anyway, everything is beeping so I must get on.
Will call back later.

Morning all,
DIDn't get on here y/day as I started the day by picking up DGD at 7am. DD2 is worn out and full of cold, I cooked her a cheese & tom omelette for brekie then tucked her into bed and told her to stay there.
I popped back at lunch with some HM hot chicken noodle soup & bread. Took her 2 labs for a walk, not easy with DGD in the buggy.
Back home and prept pots & veg to accompany pork chops, did enough for DD2 SiL2b DH & me. Had a choc sponge in freezer for pud and YS cream.
Took DGD home at 6pm and brought back washing, all done and ironed ready to take back when I collect DGD today at 8.30.
Must vacume before that as it would be too noisy for DGD (9wks) & beautiful.
Plan to Stardrop fridge, some cupboards and blitz utility inbetween feeds nappy changes and cuddles.
Doing all of us beef cobbler & roast veg for dinner, made the cobbler the other day so that saves time.
Haven't read y/days thread but will try and catch up.
Phoned DB2 last night, it was his b/day. He had an app with Oncologist re his Melanoma, he has a growth on his thigh that is spreading at an alarming rate and causing some concern. He's booked in for next Thursday so 'they' can deceide what to do.
Group prayers please.
Hope you all have a good day.

Hi there
Well two wasted days ahead here as the plumbers are in to fit a bathroom and recon its a two day job:mad:

So today will be cheese pasties for lunch followed by something made with mince, probably burgers although really fancy savoury mince as a cobbler but no idea where to startthat and the fact the water will be off.
Just off to make a nice cup of coffee :coffee:, what an excuse to get the stove top espresso maker out and make it with milk. Why didnt I make twinks hobnobs last night to dunk in .
Th:rolleyes:ere may be a few posts today with all my free time :jAlthough I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:
