I use ecover for dishes, and a squirt in the bucket for paintwork.
viniegar for worktops,mirrors,tiles,glass
powder and crystals for clothes but do still use lenor only the bedding though
and for the bathroom cleaning i use old toiletries items that i wont ever use on
skin, like cheap bubble bath, nasty smelling shampoo, the ones i receive as gifts,i just pour a little on one of those scrubby puff things and scrub and rinse.
i never clean oven, its selfclean so just needs a wipe after each use with damp cloth.
before becoming OS i had every wipe you could ever have, glass, toilet, kitchen, anti bac, bathroom, furniture, baby wipes for skirting boards, smelly toilet roll inserts, tumble dryer sheets which i used to use as well as lenor (how crazy),fabreeze, and every tiolet freshener available in the shops.
cant believe ive wasted so much money on cleaning wipes in the past, what a twit i must have been.0 -
Stardrops is a blast from the past

Stardrops great stuff - it is made by these people http://www.thorntonross.com/well-known.html who also make my toothpowder and Zoflora. Its a handy little site.
P.S Wilko's sell a lot of their stuffThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
Penny-Pincher!! wrote:We use vinegar solutions for most things (high gloss worktops, tiles in kitchen and bathroom, fronts of cupboards, windows and glass etc)
xx
I have high gloss laminate worktops in the kitchen (4 yrs old black ones from howdens i think) a microfibre cloth used to buff them up fine then they stopped looking good...someone recommended glass cleaner which worked really well for a while but now i cant seem to get them polished up without looking streaky, dull and kinda greasy
i've ordered gallons of vinegar and lemon juice as 'we' are commiting to go chemical free as far as poss (tho OH is appalled that i plan to put vinegar anywhere near the laundry!) also ordered bicarb and soda crystals having spent all this wkend glued to this part of the site! (i dont like the sun!)
so my question is if anyone has any tips for getting the shine back up or is it perhaps an age thing (the worktops not me!) will def try a vinegar solution tonight but any other tips or explanations greatly appreciated
thanks all for the great stuff i've got from this site!
oh one more q vaguely related, worth a shot - im planning on replacing these worktops this year anyway as the coffee machine's warped themanyone suggest a reasonable labour price for removing and replacing 3m of worktop and a 2m breakfast bar? (with invisible as opposed to the surface metal bar joins) it would be good to have an idea of the going rate when i get quote(s) and only ever had a full kitchen replaced before ...sorry if this bit is in wrong section...cheers!

I don't use bleach on the loo as it (eventually) wears away the enamel which causes staining.
Stardrops is great - once I had got used to not using too much!0 -
I mainly use Ecover or OS stuff. I live in a shared house, so thing gets cleaned differently depending on whose turn it is to do it that week! I am slowly smuggling more and more Ecover stuff in, as no one else seems to replace things when they get used up:D0

I guess my cleaning arsenal is not that OS but I really only need these three products to clean anything.
Bleach
Star Drops or Washing up Liquid
Almond Oil SprayLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
(Besides posting on here (and a Nice Cuppa)) I am on my knees with a Washing up Bowl of water, floorclothes and towel - Only 22 square meters to go, then I shall change my user name to old ratchet back!!!!The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0

I use
Ecover washing up liiquid
and a mix of vinegar and water to clean everything with, even the wooden floors. Bar the tooilet which gets a bottle of cheap coke bunged down it once a week , It's totally stained and horrid(the enammel has worn away), just waiting for the council to fit a new one.
I do miss furniture polish now and again, ooh it smells yummy.Saving for the future of the earth0 -
Hi I use tesco naturally laundry liquid and ecover laundry bleach (I use this on any bleahing I need to do, incuding my bathroom and kitchen surfaces) I have banished all mmy other household cleaners as those microfibre cloths are brilliant and you don't need anything with them.
