I use them for everything, to cleaning the caprets, swilling down the paths, and its great on the sofa, so basically everything the steam cleaner can't cope withWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
Microfibre cloths (not OS but nicer and more effective than grandads vests), Stardrops, bicarb, soda, bleach and LOTS AND LOTS of elbow grease.
My gran taught me to clean the corners then the middles get done automatically, clean as you go, if you can do something in 2 minutes do it immediately.
I read the wonderful writeups in different posts for baby wipes so I gave them a try and thought they were useless, they wouldn't even shift my makeup.0 -
I use vinegar, soda crystals and bicarb, the commercial cleaning stuff I use is environmentally friendly - ecover washing up liquid, washing powder and toilet cleaner. Bio-d for the floors, astonish oven and cookware for the oven and any stubborn stains on hard surfaces. Ecover multisurface or Squirteco for bathroom.

I would say i try to be more o/s than before
I buy different products than i used to and seem to buy a lot less now.
I buy the ecover multisurface cleaner for 99p, dilute a small amount in water in a spray bottle..brilliant stuff and lasts for ages. Also buy the ecover floor soap with linseed oil, again seems expensive but one bottle lasts forever! Ecover washing powder maybe a bit expensive but i find it goes furthur so in long run cheaper than persil etc.Ecover washing up liquid, tried going back to supermarket own brand could not stand the bubbles and smell so went back to ecover! Bleach for toilet and kitchen floor, no fancy cleaners. I now use the microfirbe cloths for all the dusting, I prefer this to furniture spray. I also use damp microfibre clth on laminated flooring.
I used to buy loads and loads of cleaning stuff (the harsh variety not eco) so have got better I thinkgot to add that I use vinegar for descaling kettle, taps etc. Soda crystals as well for down sink and sometimes in wash.

I use alot of vinager, sodi bic and soda crystals now but I'm still using up vast quantities of commercial products I bought pre OS, at one time I would have binned them but now I'm using them up. Have just used the last of the bottle of descaler on the kettle, next time it need doing it will be vineger. Also couldnt live without Aldi furniture polish and also Aldi Thick bleachSorting my life out one day at a time0

I use Aldi lemon liquid cleaner for most things in the kitchen and bathroom (I used to use Sainsburys own but Aldis smells nicer) only use bleach down the loo. I use Aldi furniture polish, and Sainsburys own cream cleaner on the bath and wash hand basin.
My next Old Style challenge is to make up some of my own cleaners to try out using vinegar, bicarb etc. I will try this when I am off over the Easter school holidays, (but I will carry on with my conventional cleaners until they are finished) My aim is to cut down on the amount of chemicals in our home. I have just read "A Life Stripped Bare" by Leo Hickman about his challenge to live ethically and it was really interesting, Im also extending my challenge to shampoo and cosmetics etc too.
(Just to add, Ive always used vinergar and water on the windows as taught by my mum, and its great, its the only way I can get my windows smear free)0 -

I clean all surfaces and windows with microfibre cloths and hot water with a little dash of stardrops in; I clean the cooker and fridge with bicarb and water and the only thing I use detergents for is cleaning the toilet - I get bad limescale and find that even bicarb and vinegar won't shift it.Jane
