I took advantage of the invite a friend scheme and got free box and install, didn't pay a bean.
Don't know why you had to go through extra hoops though?!0 -
there was an error online trying to do that.

by the way the fact that they don't do 1/2 price offers on packs etc is rubbish. I had a phonecall from them the other day giving me 1/2 price sports for 3 months (I didn't have it before)...
They also said if I decided not to keep it after the 3 months to ring back and they might have further offers! I'll see!!Any opinions are my own and are offered as advice only and not fact.0 -
I thought that as they ring my dad all the time.
Getting it installed June 2nd.
Cant wait however as the missus has said all the good programmes such as Lost/Prison Break *all she watches* are ending or have ended.
Never mind.Student Saving

Just a word of advice about Sky+ installation...make sure you check that you have two signals (i.e. that can record on two channels and watch a third channel) before the install guy leaves.
I ordered Sky+ very recently and it was installed on Friday 22nd. The whole experience from ordering to installation day was good. Once the guy had left, I was really pleased to be seeing all the channels and clear picture (I had a rubbish indoor aerial with a freeview TV before).
However, when I tried to record, it emerged there was only one signal coming through. This was exactly the same problem my mum had when she had Sky+ installed. The second engineer came out to her and found the input wires going into the sky+ box were all damaged and squished so no signal was getting through. So I called Sky and told them that I was only getting one signal. The tech support asked me to swap the wires, turn off the power etc. but this did nothing. There was loads of copper wire sticking out of the leads - it did not look very professional.
Anyway, after finishing with tech support on Saturday, I had no picture at all and I was not happy. I called customer services and complained until they agreed to send out an engineer on Sunday.
So yesterday, the new guy said that the original installer had put the wrong connectors (they are called F connectors or siamese connectors) on the dish and box (he had used ones that were too big so had to wrap a load of tape around the cable to make it fit). We did a test before the guy left and the problem was resolved.0 -

Sky do not employ " engineers " they employ installers, many of them are " cowboys " like the ones you have had.
Wrapping tape around a cable to make a connector fit is a bodge.0 -
Well thankfully, my father will be round helping.
