I am ignorant in the ways of car insurance (for the moment, anyway). What happens when you have an accident with an uninsured driver who is at fault?0

Gosh... lots to catch up on on here and I only popped in because Martin was mentioned on the radio this morning!
What happens after you are hit by an uninsured driver? For me, it went something like this: Lots of paperwork covering the same questions over and over again. My insurer's approved repairer did not replace/repair all the damaged parts of my car. The onus was on me to prove this and I was able to eventually. Meanwhile my claim (only the excess on my insurance) went to the Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB) via a solicitor (more paperwork). With an unresolved claim and hit by an uninsured driver I somehow managed to get my cheapest ever renewal quote. Last month my cheque came through from the MIB.
In fiscal life... we continue to OP regularly by rounding up to the nearest £100 and we upped our regular savings too this month. We're having a year off house renovations to regain some quality time together prior to MrMRN working away for 6 month next year. All other MSE activity remains high!
I'm still stuck in a rotten job but I have had a few successes (prizes and recognition) this year and a £40 per month pay rise. There has been a gentle stream of positions/opportunities to apply for over the last few weeks... something good is around the corner, I can feel it.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -

Thanks MCI.
I didn't post the half of it... within my family we've had a pretty tough year. I know others have had it worse but even the most chirpy member of the family said to me the other day that just one, little, bit of good news would be a treat. I think that's why I stopped posting because everything was negative.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
To be fair MRN, I have felt the same this year. It's been rotten. BUT I have had such tremendous support from the guys here and for me, it has helped me through.
Its not for everyone, but I hope that you will continue to post as things improve for you.
Sending (((hugs))).
