  • Tilly, thanks for the broccoli ideas. I've got chillies, ginger and chicken breasts in the freezer and rice or noodles in the cupboard so a stir fry is a sure thing. I think I might be able to make some sort of pasta dish too with bacon and a small amount of cheddar - that's another two dinners sorted, no need to food shop yet!

Training the newbies went well and the lunch was very nice. I was given a banana and an orange to take away with me too - good work snacks for later in the week.

I've been given a lovely thank-you present for something I did for someone at work - a Lancome eyeshadow pallette. Quite lavish a gift and my good deed didn't really warrant even a small present. I'm a bit blown away by it really. Not quite sure how this works with my 'no buying unnecessary toiletries challenge' but I'm very grateful and looking forward to using the pretty colours.

Broccoli is evil, pure, pure evil

If you do make the soup, best to pour it down the sink. I don't care if that isn't MSE but its evil

Presents for the teacher as well, but it is supposed to be an apple, What is wrong with people these days :rotfl:

Presents don't count on the no toiletries as you didn't buy it :)

  • I like broccoli so :p to the broccoli haters!

I'm feeling pretty chuffed with my efforts this evening:

    Gym class
Broccoli stir fry (I found ginger, chilli, coriander, peas and chicken breast in freezer, rice and home grown onion in the cupboard so it was pretty delish for a thrown together) which I made three portions of for dinner, lunch and freezer.
    Two items listed on Preloved
A box unpacked (after the DIY/furniture delivery we're still in a bit of a jumble).
    A survey from VO
Read my notes for tomorrows food mystery shop
Put a load of washing in to do overnight.

Good night everyone... I'm exhausted now!

  • Hi Radish and SSS, I will have you know that jelly and blancmange are foods of the devil :rotfl:

Talking of broccoli soup has reminded me that I need to google whether home made pesto is freezable - I have a mountain of basil which will die off soon with the cold.

  • Hi MRN, your to do lists are making me feel tired as well :o.

However I have gone back to using lists again, as my brain is too full of carp from work.

Have a good day - its blinking windy here now

  • My food mystery shop went well yesterday evening - free dinner :D

I'm seriously contemplating an online grocery shop... I've never done this before, will it hurt? Any tips appreciated! I have Friday off work but I need to be in most of the day, I can't fit a food shop in so I'm thinking if I sit down tonight and work out how to shop virtually I could have my delivery on Friday, save £10 on a £50 spend and save time. I'm nervous!

Hi MRN, You could try either MrT, MrS or Ocad0 as they offer discounts for first-timers. Also, don't forget to go through CB sites if ordering from any of these or MrA. You can use the mysupermarket website to do a comparison among the major supermarkets and find out who is the cheapest for your basket. HTH.
