Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 13th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread afterthey get up in the morning.
Morning Everyone - sorry for the early start today, but I've been awake since before 4 am
and thought I was better off putting my time to some productive use rather than tossing and turning in bed.
So far, it's a lovely day here, the moon is still in the sky and dawn is breaking gently. The North West of Scotland seems to be escaping the bad weather for the moment, which makes a nice change
I changed our bed last night, so the washing is in the machine and will be ready to go out on the line before I head to work this morning. Taking the dog to the vet this afternoon, as she's got an itchy bottom  - she tends to have problems with her anal glands, poor pooch!
Hilstep - hope the accupunture's helped? I had it when I slipped a disc in my back and found it good
MSD - you can get mini-snowballs in a tub..... Not as bad as the big ones for a wee treat?
HockeyDuo - Congratulations on the new house and I hope that you're settling in well? Have fun unpacking the boxes!
Essex Girl - Interesting to read about your hopi candle experience, I've often wanted to try it
WanabeSybil - Hope you enjoyed the dinner you were so looking forward to with LB?
I hope everyone is okay and look forward to catching up with the news through the day. Have a good one and hugs to all that need support and friendship.

Wet and dull here. I am wearing my wife's dressing gown as mine is in the tumble drier. Bit small really..... perhaps too much information:rotfl:
Managed to get loads of garden work done yesterday, weeds, and grass cut.
Bit annoyed about my car as the dippy in the parts store supplied me with the wrong part. He sold me a fan belt tensioner instead of a cam belt tensioner. Big difference and will cost me £60 more and I can't get it till Friday. No body seems to carry stock anymore...
Off again today, so it will be e-bay items if still raining or garden if dry. The dog has dug several holes in the borders which need filling in, OH not to happy about that.
Well, have a nice day.. One things about having no car is I can't go anywhere to spend money.
Cheers...NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
No appolgies needed.

Waaaaaaaay to much information  Just don't make a habit of it
Dull and overcast here this morning. May even be that fine drizzle but can't tell and I can't be bothered to check at the mo.
had about 4 hours sleep (thanks to DD ) so quite frankly today I don't feel like doing much today never mind OS.
DS off to pre school this morning so might just take myself back to bed when DD goes for her morning nap. I can't function with so little sleep so that's my priority today
One of my courgette plants seems to be dying that I planted out the other week. One looks healthy, one is teetering on the brink of being OK and the other one looks limp as a anything. Have no idea what I've done wrong. Might pop over to Greenfingered and see what they can make of it.
Have a good day everyone, OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning All
Nessie - Hopi ear candle is lovely I would really recommend it.
Damp and miserable start here today. In the office this morning so wont affect me too much.
Meant to be going out to lunch with someone I havnt seen for sometime but trying to get out of it as cant afford the time. Havnt got much done this week at all.
Not sure what is for dinner as tonight was left blank on the menu plan, will have to route around in the freezer later.
Have downloaded a audio book onto my ipod - havnt listened to an audio book before but my friend recommends it for listening whilst cleaning - will give it a try - anything to make it more bearable.
Some ironing to do and washing to try and get dry - will go check the weather forcast.
Have a great day.

Morning all,
Not so nice here today, a bit dull, I have washing to do so will risk it and hang it out.
Normal cleaning to do, and I will carry on with cleaning the kitchen cupboards out, the worst two were done yesterday, I am not sure how they get so grubby but hey ho.
Scampi and chips for dinner, it was on BOGOF in sainsbugs this week, also have my shopping being delivered.
N9eav :rotfl:the fact that the dressing gown was snug fitting made me laugh all the more, hope it covered all the important bits
Hugs where needed, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Grey and miserable here this morning - the weather that is, not me!:D
Day off today and typically can't sleep, so got up at 5 with DH, might go back for an hour later if I get chance/feel like it.
OS today will consist of bm going on, wm on already - will have to dry on airer as no chance of hanging it outside today and do not want to use td unless absolutely necessary, am trying to keep elec costs down. Need to give bathroom a good clean and S&S rest of house. Smoked haddock for tea with savoury rice and new pots for those who want them.
DD1 is coming for tea tonight, both DD1 and DD2 (who lives at home still) work at the same bank, so she come home with her. Looking forward to that, as although she only lives 5 minutes away when you are all working (and she works very long hours!) it is sometimes difficult to see her and her OH properly, he is working tonight so it will just be her and we can catch up and have a nice girly chat!:rotfl:
Catch up with news later - (((Hugs))) to anyone who needs or wants one
xxx"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D
Weight loss since January 2011 - 5st 5 lbs!!!!!0 -

But we all know he likes to let his tackle out in the breeze.:D (When he's fishing of course:cool:)
Yes N9eav. Too much info. _pale_
Another busy day. The girls room is disgusting and they are stashing dirty clothes somewhere again so I am off on a dirty sock hunt after they're gone to school.
Need to plant some more seeds in modules for the school garden and pop to the garden centre for a few pots. Like Nessie I am in NW scotland and the weather has been lovely. Makes a pleasant change.
More laundry to do and general cleaning through.
Have defrosted a YS organic chicken for tea so need to roast that to have with salad, HM bread, HM coleslaw and HM potato salad.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning everyone.
It's fairly cool & overcast here today but I may chance the washing on the line as I'm in for the day to bring it back in if necessary.
Essex Girl My Mum always used to listen to audio books while she was doing the ironing, she swore that it made it pass quickerHope it has the same effect on your cleaning time today.
My Dad is home from hospital now so we're hoping he'll recover more quickly at home - own bed, food & peace & quiet etc. He looks better but is still tired.
(((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) where needed today xxx0 -
morning all!
gloomy day here, ashing will have to hang indoors again. Got 2 days off now:j this morning I'm cleaning for Mum and later I've got a meeting at DS2s college - hope we can sort something out to help him catch up with his work.
Yesterday we had 3 fires close to our house, the local high school, shop and a garage. 3 teenagers from the school were arrested. DH works with the father of one of them, a really nice chap - what a shock for them.
OS stuff for today
hang washing indoors
clean house(just a catlick today)
pop into Tesco for a few bits
make cottage pies(quorn bought half price from our local shop) for the freezer
thats about it so far.
(((hugs))) to those who need one - esp PP, Beemuzed
have a great day all x
edited to say - SunnyGirl - so glad your Dad is home safely xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
well i eed to get some washing done tonight which could be at odds with the weather, as it is rather wet here.... ho hum. i may have to let the house look like a chinese laundry as it all dries...
i think that my neighbour may have a mouse, as i heard her shreiking at him in the middle of the night, so i may need to put something down, not that i have a clue what, to discourage them from my house....
well i'd better get some work done, sens as i'm here now...
have a good day to all, and big hugs to those who need them...

Morning all,
Tru, I know I shouldn’t be, but I was seriously chuffed to know you have a beautiful brown chicken called Pink! I should get out more shouldn’t I?
Penny, It really is a milestone when children leave school. I love your idea of taking dd away for a girlie break.
HockeyDuo, Welcome back! I’m glad the move went well.
beemuzed, I can’t imagine what you’ve been through or how hard each anniversary must be. x
Snowy, Congratulations on the new job.
I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday as I had to attend a training course at work. It was on child protection and it was compulsory. Fine…apart from the fact that I have no dealings with children during the course of my work and because it was in the afternoon and compulsory I had to compromise my own child in order to attend! I suppose thinking up these things must keep someone in a job! Gosh I sound like a grumpy old woman don’t I!
It’s piddling down here as promised so having spent a few days working in the garden, I’m going to get stuck into the house today. Jobs planned are: clean the windows which are absolutely filthy as Tilly (the cat) seems to take great pleasure coming in one and going out another. I wouldn’t mind so much if she cleaned her paws first! I want to vacuum the whole house, clean the bathrooms, do a general tidy round and clean out the fridge. That little lot should keep me out of trouble for a while. Tea will be something with two packs of Boursin cream cheese that I picked up last night reduced to 20p. Probably some sort of pasta. I’ll need to go and have a hunt for recipes. Then I’m off out to work again tonight….roll on the weekend.
Have a good day everyone.
