shopping in Somerfields

I had to go back to the town where the Somerfields is and complained in a loud voice to the manager, just said if I visit the store once every six months and they hand over a loyalty card why not just sell the offers, its a rip off that affects the elderly. Guess what its a head office thing >:(
Boycott Somerfields for me - I'm sure they're gonna miss my revenue!!0 -
I assume why Sommerfield issue a card is to encourage local people to shop in their store so they can compete with the bigger company's. It does state clearly on the shelf of every Saver item that you need a card to claim the free item.
It is not unheard of before the scheme that people were traveling miles just for the BOGOF offers then the local people were left with none on the shelf.
So the card is supposed to be for loyal customers, not much diiferent from most other stores with a loyalty card.
I don't have a card for the Boots loyalty scheme but I don't moan when somebody buys something at the till in front of me & in theory gets it for nothing.
Get a card if it bothers you. ( I don't work for Sommerfield incase anyone thinks I do)

The Boots advantage card is different.
You don't need one to to take advantage of their BOGOF or 3 for the price of 2. Anyone can walk in off the street and get these offers, without a card.Laughter is the sun

If you read my last post I am not talking about the Boots 3 for 2 offer, I am talking about the Advantage card which gives you free items depending on the amount of points you have on the card. If you have no card but spend every day in Boots you do not get the offers.
So the best thing to do is get a card. The same as in Sommerfield.

Moneysaver-I agree with you completely!
If you don't like it don't go in Somerfield, if you want some of the offers...get a card simple as that!
The only complaint I think is valid is when it's not clearly displayed that these offers are for saver card people only, in my store it's very obvious they are, so not a problem! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I did get a card I'm not daft!!
Why if they just hand over the card anyway does it stop people going in just for the bogofs. I'm just trying to point out that it could affect more vunerable folk than us. ;D0 -
I really don't see what all the fuss is about.
From my own experience all offers are clearly marked "For Saver Card Holders Only"
If you haven't got a card and you want to have the offer just take a card from the stack at the till. Filling in the form with the card is optional. They call me Mr Pig!0 -
I have been overcharged at Somerfield for 3 items in 2 days.
Somerfield have two kinds of offer: those which require Saver Cards and those which are open to all. Yesterday, I bought two items which did not require the card but both were charged at full price.
I returned to shop at the store today and to query the overcharge yesterday - it is my local and used mainly for necessities - and found that the customer being served ahead of me was challenging his bill of yesterday for similar reasons. The checkout assistant told him and me that the offer was only available with a Saver Card yet the shelf label made no such reference. When I asked for a manager, I was told that there was not one present, so I asked to speak with the "suit" who was briefing staff at the back of the store. Her response was that head office had instructed that all offers only be made available to saver card holders.
Although I received a refund, I asked for their complaints book to record my discontent but they could not find it and offered a blank sheet of A4 instead (!). I left the store promising to report this matter to Trading Standards and the local rag and would urge others to do the same if this practice is as widespread as it appears to be.
Final note, on returning home with refund and shopping from today's trip, I discovered that I have again been overcharged on an offer item...
p.s. Is it possible to change the spelling "Sommerfields"at the beginning of this thread as it means that the search function will not easily pick it up?0 -
I was overcharged on a bottle of wine.
The label on the shelf clearly said "Special Offer £1 Off was 5.99 now 4.99"
This was an offer open to all.
At the till I was charged 6.19
I knew I was overcharged straight away as I was only buying 5 items therefore I knew the total. They call me Mr Pig!0 -
sommerfield shopping is a nightmare anyway
they are soo slow at the till, I have NEVER stood at the till and all my stuff has gone through, they ALWAYS have to call a supervisor or someone called doreen to get a price or two
I hate that shop
the owner said he doesnt suffer fools gladly once on TV
he should apply that to his staff>:(
