is there anyway some one could update info on nationwide flex cards.i know they are going to charge % for outside europe but soon they say they are going to have to charge for cards within europe.plus there is two cards you can get.red or blue.it all depends how much you earn or how much a month you put into the acount.its getting harder to get now.not like it was years ago where you could just get one to use on your hols.
spoke to them today.but they cannot give me full info.and no date has been set to charge for within eu yet.i push this card like mad.but i dont want to upset anyone late in the year.saying its my fault.

No, we know they are going to pass on the visa fee that is applicable outside Europe. I am asking where you get the idea that they are going to start charging in Europe too.0 -
nationwide-this is what a lady said on a forum site
Hi Woody, I went to Nationwide this morning to open a flexi account. I was asked whether I wanted a blue or red card.
Apparently if you use the blue card within Europe they are going to start charging, so have you got a red card then?
I haven't yet opened an account but will when I've got all the gen
updated now to-Thanks Woody, the way they explained it to me it seemed that the red card would be more suitable for my circumstances.
It's free to use and I can transfer money from my other current account on a monthly basis.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -

I don't trust everything that I hear second hand "from a Lady on a forum site " I'm afraid, I will wait to hear from Nationwide, I suspect that she was confusing it with charges outside of Europe.0 -
My blue Flex Account Visa Debit card is still free to use inside Europe, and will continue as far as I am aware at present.
Even if it does stop one day, the fact is that apart from Nationwide and the PO, all the other card providers have been charging to use abroad for years as far as I am aware, so this free period has been an extra bonus, not a given right.
So nothing to get cross about. Just enjoy it while you can.

hi just to tie up the confusion with Nationwide cards/charges,I actually work for nationwide. From 1st june 09 there will be a 1%visa fee added to holders(blue cards only & (credit cards-6th may) only outside the eu,we have not heard as yet about any charges in the eu.Blue flex card is a visa debit card,purple/red card is a cash card only this also can be used abroad but is free anywhere as the transations are via cirrus not visa, the cash card can only be used at cirrus atm machines. On all nationwide cards you will still get the commercial rate which means more in your pocket!Hope this has helped a little0
