Toe post sandals - ouch!

I bought some fitflops a few weeks ago.

Now I'm not used to toe-post shoes so I expected them to feel a little strange (they are extremely comfy underfoot and I find them easy to walk in), however the toe post makes my toes sore. Not in the "junction" between the big toe and the next one, but actually on the sides of the aforementioned toes. If you can imagine - the outer sides of the Y are causing the problem.
It's not a "rubbing" sort of soreness that could result in a blister, it almost feels bruised. So much so that I can only use them every few days.

I've never been able to wear toe post sandals. It may sound strange to those that wear them with no problem, but they make me feel physically sick, something to do with the way the post feels in between my toes.

I often wonder if anybody else has this sensation with this kind of footwear.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Ohhhh me I do I thought I was just wierd but actually sliding the post between my toes is a horrid feeling, its not too bad once its in place and I have been known to wear flip flops on the beach very occasionally, but putting them on is like nails scratching on a blackboard, send the same sort of shivers down my spine.

you can buy those gel supports for toe posted sandals. i think i have seen them in boots, superdrugs and bodycare with all the other foot products - with the sole gel things. i think you can get spot shape ones too which you could stick on the underside of the actual straps if it causes friction.

I used to be like this and finally forced myself to get over the ikkkk factor a couple of summers ago. One thing that helped initially was to wrap some elastoplast around the toe post to cushion it a bit.

    Thanks all.
I've realised it's actually just the 2nd to biggest toe that feels bruised and sore - both feet.
I've bought some of those gel things but when I tried them when my foot was already sore, so it just seemed to make the toe post even bigger!
I'll wait till they feel better then try them again.

I always find that the first few days when the warmer weather starts, and I get my flip flops out, they make my feet feel icky, and almost like pins and needles/ itchy but then after I've worn them in they are the comfiest shoes ever! I get it every year though as I guess they become unconditioned to the toe post!

I put a little vaseline between my two toes until they get used to it. I find this stops the dry rubbing and softens the toe post if its a harsh leather type one.

    You lot are weird ;)

Only joking, I have no problems wearing sandals with bits between my toes, in fact I like things pushed between them  (if I'm sat on a chair with thin metal legs, it's a lovely feeling to put it between my big and next toe) - and I said you lot are weird :rotfl:

What are the fit flops like, I've heard about them but do they really do what they say they do

My nana always told me to rub hard soap on the places that rub and a little on your feet in the area and this has always worked for me!!
