Is this dodgy?

  • Hello people,

I have had to open a Paypal Dispute as over a month later I'm still waiting for missing itemsand the phone may not be as new as described and the seller is unwilling to provide evidence to the contrary. I feel as if I've been taken for a ride simple because I've been so patient.

When I opened the dispute, Paypal said the buyer cannot respond and would escalate it to a claim. I don't know why but it happened immediately I clicked submit. I have said I would like a refund I hope that's the best route to take.

ANy tips would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I'm off to ebay to open a dispute as well, is that ok?

    Thnaks a lot.

    Guys,

I am in a state of shock! I received an email asking me to file a police report.

Here is the text of the email:
In order to continue this investigation, please file a police report with
your local police station that highlights your issue and fax a copy of the
report to PayPal. This document should be on headed police paper/stamped police paper and clearly show the problem with the transaction.

Is this the usual practice or are they simply trying to scare me off??

All I did was open a dispute for an item that was received incomplete (acknowledged by the seller) and which may not have been as described (I think it's older than alleged).

I fired off a quick email but decided to cool off and not send it till I take advice from you guys.

    Have I missed something here??

EDIT: Can it have anything to do with the fact that I have not yet left feedback? Could Paypal think I'm dodgy?

I dont understand this thread, did you receive your item? Did you open an INR dispute then closed it when the phone arrived? Did you then open an ISND dispute?

I'd also appreciate some clarification. On 8th June you say you opened a full INR claim (item not received). Did item arrive, was it incomplete, did you close original NPB as you say in today's post that you opened an SNAD claim.

Once we know what you opened and when we can give more advice.

Some clarification would indeed be helpful, police report? for a missing / SNAD mobile phone? are pay pal on drugs or something?

If the OP opened a SNAD claim, pay pal would ask them to return the phone by trackable means for a full refund, if they opened an INR claim, pay pal would ask the seller for tracking info to prove delivery, and refund if none was forthcoming. it's possible to change an INR dispute to a SNAD if the item subsequently arrives but it not as described. why pay pal would need police input on such matters is beyond me, we must be missing something here.

The seller isn't the infamous GARY COOPER (gcspcs) is it?:rotfl:

  • Sorry, let me clarify.

I received the phone after about 3 weeks (foolish me!) and it had a missing component included in the listing. I also saw something on the phone which suggested it was indeed not as new as alleged.

I opened a not as described dispute (that got escalated to a claim almost immediately - something about paypal not being able to contact the seller).

I uploaded to Paypal emails from the seller in which she acknowledged that the item was incomplete and promised to send it and emails in which she confirmed the date it was originally bought.

    I hope this is clearer?

I don't see why I should need a police report for what Ii believe is a trade dispute (which I assumed would be covered by Paypal's "Buyer Protection Policy").

I don't think the police would be interested and am ready to send an email stating this to Paypal.

    Any ideas?

The only way paypal can sort our a SNAD dispute is to get the buyer to return the goods. If you didn't do this then they try to make it difficult for buyers by asking for unreasonable evidence/information. Did they ask you to return the goods?

Not at all, I've not received any such request.

All I keep getting is requests for more information which i respond to each time trying to be clearer in my arguments in case they've misunderstood.

I would like to email them and ask them if they've mixed up my case with another?

I don't see what the police have to do with a simple eBay purchase gone wrong.

I wonder if it's because I've not left feedback - I was hoping for a resolution before all this. I will leave feedback now if that's what they need.

    Have I missed something?

I would leave negative or neutral feedback as you are not happy with the transaction. I doubt if paypal know or care if you have left feedback or not. It sounds like something has gone wrong at the sellers end to start all this. They wont have any sellers protection as they sent the goods out too late so they might be playing dirty.
