Is this dodgy?

I hope you guys don't think I'm a stickler for punishment but paid for another phone off ebay (:D).

It's now over 10 days since payment via Paypal and I've still not received anything.

Seller said sent and should expect by Monday but waited till today and still nothing. In reply to my email, seller said sit was ent via recorded delivery and was returned to them as 'receiver not obtainable'. Also asked me for another address to ship to in order to avoid a repeat scenario.

Something sounds off to me, am I being paranoid?

I've replied asking the seller to send me the verified address that was generated by Paypal (to check there is no error) and to send me a Royal Mail tracking number to chase up.

Thought it was unusual for an item to be returned by Royal Mail less than 3 working days after alleged postage!

Any advice?

Thanks.

Items are only returned to sender 1 week after attempted delivery if they are not collected.

Ask for tracking number, if he is reluctant to provide it open a paypal dispute.

    Good luck with it.

Check out the tracking number at the royal mail track and trace web page. but it looks like you may just have to wait for your money back from a dispute.

Really? Didn't know that could happen.

Anyway, waiting for a tracking number. Will see what happens, benefit of the doubt etc...

  • Patience now exhausted, will now begin proceedings against the seller. No tracking number, no item.

My plan is to open an 'item not received' dispute on paypal and a 'non-performing seller' dispute on eBay.

Am I on the right track?

    Thanks for the help.

  • Hmmm.. eBay is rather confusing, having to hunt to find the relevant pages. Paypal is more straightforward.

BTW, which should I do first, Paypal or eBay? I am being very cautious as I know things can go wrong if you don't follow recommended paths.

    Very many thanks.

Paypal is the important one, as they deal with the money which is the main issue.
