Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 11th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning.

I have not been on for a few days. Mixture of working till 2am and kids taking over my computer. I hate working at 2am it's very tiring.

Start a 3 day trial today, so the rest of my week is in court. I am not on trial by the way..... My car gets it's superservice which will cost me a packet. The parts alone are £300 and then labour etc blah bla. Could do without all that expense, but I have to be thankful for my uncle who gave me a cheque this week out of the blue to help me pay for it.... :D. Total surprise.
Spent the evening putting a new exhaust on the OH car as well, so all go at the moment.
All veg is in and growing. Appart from the wind the growing conditions are pretty good.
Well, have a nice day.... cheers

    Good morning!
Need some matchsticks for my eyes this morning - DD decided 5.20am was a reasonable time to wake. My DS woke at 5am for a YEAR. Please God don't let her be the same! Am getting fed up of feeling so tired all the time.

About to put a Vegetable chilli on in the SC for tea tonight. Off to see friends this morning so won't get anything else done. Did the ironing last night (well actually I started it but my H did the bulk of it!). Should probably fit in pushing round a duster but quite frankly this morning I don't care :o
Veggies looked a little limp yesterday so I don't think I was watering them enough :o Watering was never my strong point so hopefully the rain that's predicted can help give them a good drink too (plus my water butt is empty and it's costing me money to keep using the hose on them. Damn water meters :rotfl:)

N9eav - just read you've been working til 2am  You must be exhausted.
Have a good day everyone, OS or not.

    Good Morning

Very windy again here but no rain forcast so will try and get as much washing done and dried.

Mainly office work today then ironing. Need to strip chicken from Sunday & will use the meat for chicken curry tonight.

Not sure if will have time to bake as really need to get some stuff on ebay tonight - must get some extra funds in.

Yesterday went very well, it really is a lovely spot for my Nan and Grandad, the gardens are lovely.

Went to the pub in the end with the rest of the family and had a very disappointing lunch - hate spending money on unpleasant food. Had a trip down memory lane though, looked at my other nans house which hasnt changed at all.

Anyway off now to check my banks and have a little surf before DD gets up.

Have a lovely day & (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one.

    Morning all

Back at work again today, so just a quick post before I start - really enjoyed my day off yest, got loads of sorting out done.

Ended up with a prawn salad for tea last night as weather was good all day - if a little windy! Not sure what we shall have tonight, I have quite a bit of running round to do after I finish work so will have to be something quick and easy. I have put wm before I came out to work and left a note for DD to hang it out if it finishes before she goes - I can live in hope!

Have a good day everyone - I will catch up on news later

    Morning all,
I need to strip the covers off the sofas & chairs and get them in the WM and line dry them. Inside windows need cleaning, re-make the 2 beds friends used, they came so close to being exfriends due to their anticks.

I bought a box of Dr. Beckmann colour run remover to try and get DGD's beautiful blanket back to pink but it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. Going to soak it in Starcleen mix, it's knitted with cotton type wool. Any suggestions of what else to try?

DH & I went to Lidle and stocked up with loads of F&V which was cheap, but has anyone else noticed how much they have increased the price of other things?
Called into S/field and stocked up on their specials, then onto Morries to do likewise, oh and we put in an offer for another house.

Weather here is good so will do some gardening and try to finish w/proofing the garden furniture.

Hope it's a good day for all.

CSARINA, Hope you're feeling better, miss your posts

    Morning all,

Not so nice here today, its quite cloudy, I managed to get most of the washing done yesterday, it was blowing a gale here.

I also made a lemon drizzle cake and some cookies, and a roast beef dinner, which was delish.

Still back to today, chicken casserole for dinner, which will go in the sc, and I need to make a pasta bake up for tomorrows tea. Hoover through and mop floors, which I missed yesterday.

Yesterday I planted out, my corgettes, french beans, runner beans, beetroot, carrots, and squash, and potted on my chilli and pepper plants, so need to go and check them in a while, and today I need to feed my tomatoes and pinch out the side shoots.

Ok thats it from me, hugs where needed.

    Have good days all x

I also forgot to mention I had my free seeds from BBCs Dig In yesterday. And they sent me two lots by mistake yay!!!!!!
I'd run out of carrot seeds so hopefully I can continue sowing over the summer now.
Going to need it as my H bought a bike second hand (a veeeeeeeeeery expensive bike at that) for £400 so we are going to need to grow as much as we can at this rate!

    Morning everyone,

Haven't managed to get online much the last few days. Been looking after DGS. Took him to the island play group this morning. Horrid. :D But he enjoyed it. I never really liked taking my kids. Bored out of my brain spings to mind. :p Just been doing the usual OS stuff. Nothing too industrious. I'm meeting up with DSis Thursday so that will be lovely.

I think I"ll just have soup & bread for tea. Not all that hungry tonight. I"ll make Dh something else. He's not home as yet. Off to check the threads now.

CM Have a lovely holiday & don't pick up any swine flu germs. :D

Hope you all have a great day & <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning All!

Haven't been on for a few days. Went to the dentist yesterday and had my horrid tooth out.:o It broke into four pieces, but he got them all out and it din't hurt t the time, only later did it ache!:rotfl: Still won't cause me any more bother now.

Nails this morning, they are sooo long, I'm typing with them, not my fingers:rotfl:

Hospital this afternoon, and tomorrow morning. Getting some orthotics for my dropped arches, physio thinks that they will help my balance.

DD and fiance came round last night. He's had another tattoo:o He's a lovely guy, but why do these kids want things carved into them?

Hope most people are okay, if not have a (((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))

    Have a great day!

    Good morning,

Windy here too so I'm making the most of it and stripping the beds so they can dry on the line :D It's my daughter's birthday today, she's 17, so we've done the round of presents & cards already, I've just got her cake to do later on. A pink iced concoction with a fairy for the top of it ;)

DS1 is ill this morning his temp is up & he has a sore throat poor thing. It's a cold thats gone round the entire family he's the last to succumb. DS3 is doing his Yr6 SAT's this week so he's gone to school with his bottle of water & a lucky teddy!

Cheese & onion quiche, HM wedges & salad for dinner this evening followed by birthday cake  I'd better get preparing & cooking shortly as I'm going into our local town this afternoon & won't feel like doing it when I get back.

(((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))) to any that need/want one.

    Louise xxx
