Never heard of this before to be honest, so I'm curious to know where you've heard this from.

If you're looking to take something out with RBS/Natwest, such as a loan etc, we can usually tell you if it'd go through or not before keying it. As far as I'm aware though, it's just for internal use.

I have, in the past, told customers whether they "assess" for something or not, so if you're after something in particular, just ask if you can have it - they should just tell you.
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p

How new are you? And what sort of account is it?

Sometimes, customers don't have an assessment screen because of these reasons.

Can't see how you'd benefit from knowing this to be fair.

If anything, it could be a detriment - you could get into levels of debt that you can't afford but the bank is offering you, solely based on the bank offering it.

Actually, chambta, while we're sort of on the subject... seeing as you're an RBSG bod, I'm going down to see them tomorrow about matching my overdraft and card type with First Direct (in fact, I don't even want to match the overdraft, just get £50 or so limit and a Highline card). They say they'll do this on their website - is this credit scored or overridden or what?

Lucky moo. I've gone from £10k across 3 different accounts to NIL!

They see my wage, manage my credit card, have my mortgage and savings, insure my house and I have a 999 credit rating!! I rarely go overdrawn, but do like having the cushion there!

I think i read about it on here.

Benefits for me would be with me having about 80 searches on experian and about 9 on equifax, dodgy info alias on call credit!(i queried this ages ago no reply!).

If i knew what i was preapproved for that would benefit me rather than i have been aimless in my attempts to improve my rating. If you know what they will let you have that means no negative info on fraud agencies and the info the banks exchange between themselves.

I have a £100 guarantee card If i say I have £250 one and i don't the information they exchange will decline me, wheras with this info i can go in get sorted and out with no problems.

Credit scoring is a load of twaddle this programme other night proved that with Martin on it how can you have a bankrupt with a higher credit score than my dad? who doesn't use credit, but owns many houses for btl? crazy world.

For the tiny proportion of edge or borderline cases, it doesn't work. For most people, and most companies, it does. The other option would be to have a manual underwriter sifting through all your bank statements and digging through your finances for everything - pardon me, but I'll take the scoring, thanks.
