Do remember to find the bit in your settlings that stops you accepting echeques too. THey are really bad news- IMHO almost all bouncer and the ones that don't the buyers get arsey as they "have to wait aged for the item but I paid the same day" - um nope you didn't you haven't "paid" tillthe money clears!0

Thanks! But where do I find 'that' bit in my settings?

You'll be fine, this happenned to me only amonth or so ago, no payment for a week then it was an echeque which bounced after waiting over another week..
a bit of advise on how i handled it, i opened the unpaid item dispute, then when they responded i told them i was cancelling the transaction due to time elapsed and the failed payment and they need do nothing, then after the time elapse i issued the unpaid item strike and then added them to my blocked bidder list, harsh, but it avoided them rushing a neg through before i could block them from leaving feedback, which after a unpaid item strike and being added to your blocked list they can't do.

Unfortunately you can't block echeques on ebay, much as many of us would like to.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I had a buyer paying by echeque recently; I emailed them to advise when the payment was likely to clear and she didn't actually know she'd paid by echeque as she had a card registered and thought she'd paid immediately.
This is what happens when your registered card expires, so whilst it's a bit of a pain, it's worth dropping the buyer a polite, helpful message.0 -

That cant be the only reason why because my cards havent expired and it did that to me once, but I think it was cos the seller was new

If i understand it correctly, an e-cheque is when there is insufficient funds in the paypal account and paypal go into the persons bank account for the money.
One thing i do know they are a pain in the back side, i once had a guy open up an ebay dispute and threaten me with the police because it had been 10 day's and his payment hadn't cleared, and he swore blind his account showed nothing other than that he had paid 10 day's ago.
i think the whole e-cheque system is inefficient but unfortunately, no way to block them as far as I’m aware, which is a shame.0 -
A while ago Paypal had a funny turn and issued echeques with no reason. Everything in my account was up to date, but they sent an echeque and I had no idea. As a buyer, all you know is that you have paid. Fortunately the seller was one I had bought from a couple of times, and she was fine, although the same thing had happened to 4 of her regular buyers in that week.0

another example of how useless paypal are, they tell the buyer they have paid and make the seller look like a scammer when they are saying that they have not got the money...they are more trouble than they are worth. :rolleyes:0 -
ebay states payment in 7 days - as its now outside this (after waiting 10 days for the chq to clear) I'm sure you could politely point this out to the customer, asking that she make an instant payment or you will would be within your right to offer to the next highest bidder or to relist.Auntie-Dolly wrote: »You don't have to wait for the e-cheque to clear before refunding. If it was me, I would refund now and tell the buyer she needs to register her card detals in paypal & repay using instant funding. I wouldn't want to wait another 10 days.
it's all in how you word/play this one though so as to not rile up the buyer in any way that may leave them reaching for the neg button out of anger/spite
good luck0
