MONEY MORAL DILEMMA. Would you give up a £50 train seat for a pregnant woman?

My 22 yr old daughter found a great way to get a seat last year, and restore her faith in human compassion. She was on a crowded rush-hour train and, through not eating & being hot, she fainted. When she came to after less than a minute, a large space had been created round her, two people offered her their seats and several people offered her a drink of water. Obviously there are plenty of nice people out there, and even the grumps may find their view changed when confronted with the reality of a situation.0

Of course I would! Basic manners and courtesy. You paid for the place on the train, the seat is a bonus. One day I will be 130 and still travelling on trains, and then maybe the favour will get repaid.0

Absolutely, 100% YES of course I would. Any able bodied person who could sit in their seat whilst a heavily pregnant woman is forced to stand should be ashamed. This should not even be a question. I was brought up to believe that we should help and protect those who we and I think a heavily pregnant woman falls into this category.Mortgage £120K, monthly overpayment £600, 18 years and £100K saved0

:rolleyes:I would most definately get up without even thinking about it, im a young lady in my 30s and wouldnt think twice about it,i think a lot of people today dont have empathy, respect or manners its a shame.;)0

In a flash - but then I am 64 - BUT I would expect the seat back if she gets off before my stop.0

in a word .... yesThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o
A winner listens, a loser just waits until it is their turn to talk:)0 -
My goodness, where have manners disappeared to?
I would stand,(close by to get my seat back when she got off)
I have brought my sons up who are now teens and twenties to offer their seats to the elderly, disabled, pregnant women, and those with very young children. I have watched them do this on several occasions, and sometimes others react with extreme surprise......they consider it good manners and the norm.0 -
Well, since I'm a student (read 'state-subsidised scrounger' ) and presumably she's a tax-payer, by your logic she deserves my seat more anyway.
Seriously, what a load of selfish !!!!!! you lot are. You pay for the journey, not the seat, so it doesn't matter if your ticket was £50 or £500. I thought you Daily Mail readers were all for bringing back old fashioned values. Well, unfortunately for you, manners happens to be one of them. How about learning some? If you're able, you give your seat up. If you're not, you explain why not. And there was me thinking the older generation had respect for each other.
