Yes of course I would give up my seat for her. It's the right thing to do.
There are an awful lot of negative comments on this thread but I'm going to take comfort from the fact that there are a lot of good, kind, caring people on here too. :A0 -
I think I'd ask if she would like to sit down for 'a few minutes' and allow her to offer it back to me after a rest.
Excellent response - yes I would offer my seat for a while, and I'd encourage others to give her their seat for a while too. I'd also have no problem if need be to raise my voice to shame anyone who wouldn't give up their seat for a spell.
As a bloke, these days it often tickles me that women look so surprised (and pleased) when I hold a door open for them. Strange and sad that these days too many people are either too rude to be chivalrous, or are afraid their simple gesture will be taken in the wrong way.0 -
Yes I would, I was in that position once, travelling from Leeds to York on a hot summer's afternoon after a day's training. There were no seats and I had to stand. Was about 7 and a half month's pregnant at the time, so quite obvious really, and loads of people let me stand. I thought I was going to pass out at one point, thankfully I was fine and didn't, and I got a seat midway through the relatively short journey, but boy, it was quite an unpleasant and uncomfortable journey. Having been there myself, I'd give up my seat, £50 or not. I'd like to think I'd have done that anyway!0

I have always offered my seat for pregnant, old and disabled people. However, with one knee being new, and the other knee with sciatica and arthritis, I would stay in my seat. I would be quite prepared (at age 74) to sit on the floor if I had no seat.0

Funnily enough, when I was heavily pregnant and in a lot of pain with hip trouble, the only person that ever stood up for me was an old lady.
However i have got enough pain to deal with already .. I would and have offered people( if physically able to ) my seat on a train but what i would not be happy to think that people would expect because im lucky enough to look 26 that i am just being selfish or unkind because i am unable to get up or stand up for long periods of time .. People wouldnt offer me a seat ...
I think that perhaps the onus should be on the train company to provide a place for everyone to sit . and not to pack them in in order to just make more profit ..

OK,so being a Bank holiday I can assume that the train company have engineering works AND have shortened the train by two carriages, meaning that someone else is in my seat as theirs doesn't exist!
I wouldn't give up my seat if I was in it, as otherwise my child would fret, but would advise her to go & sit in First Class.

I would want to and I do give up my seat on buses/trains for elderly/disabled/pregnant people but in the past I have often not received a thank you or even a smile from the person I have given my seat up for. I can appriciate that some pregnant woman are feeling stressed and tired but it's not hard to just say thank you!
It's probably just the city I live in though. I do find people tend to be very badly mannered in Portsmouth!"This Will Be Mine In 2009 Member" #215...
