We have stayed twice at the novotel vaurigard.

Great location; metro easy and little cafes in the vicinity. Will definately stay there again.

    Cheers

Agreed. The Holiday Inn I mentioned earlier is just around the corner.

Last time I looked Holiday Inn Paris Montparnasse was only 55 Euros in the 2 for 1 deal. We were happy to stay there. Moved around easily. On foot, by bicycle and used the Metro.
Hi Donnie, which montparnasse did you stay in? i have had a look and i have come across Montparnasse pasteur which i think is the one on 15th or Montparnasse av.du maine which i think is 14th?! and where did you see 2 for1 deal?
    Thanks.

Montparnasse Pasteur. Apologies for the incomplete description.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be included in the 2 for 1 deal in July. If that's the case, maybe it is better to look for a less expensive option.

Here is the 2 for 1 link.

The Friends & Family link is still viable and is available in this thread. Should bring the cost to around 75 Euros per night.

I have had a look at the holiday inn via the friends and family link and it is 108euros per night which brings it down a bit but it doesnt include breakfast. Also had a look at the novotel vaurigard and i can get it slightly cheaper but not alot and both are lovely hotels. I also like the sound of the district which sounds if it will be easy for the metro, the attractions and i assume cafes etc. How much is an avareage breakfast and would it be better to have it at the hotel or elsewhere? The only reason i ask is when we went to Madrid we didn't have breakfast at the hotel and where our hotel was the cafes did not open when we wanted breakfast and when we found one it cost just as much as the hotel but didn't have the choice so on the last day we ate at the hotel and was so much easier and nicer.

When we stayed at the Novotel we had B & B and the breakfast was really good - buffet style and plenty. Not sure what time the little cafes in the area open so I would see ihow much the the B & B rate is if I were you. You could also opt to book room only and decide on breakfast when you are there - 16euros I believe. That would allow you the option to have a look outside should you wish.

Not wishing to contradict you, but I definitely got a price of around 75 Euros on Friends and Family. Tried a few options, couldn't get anywhere near 108 Euros. Maybe you've made a mistake?

Standard Rooms are 74.25 Euros. It's the 1 DBL BED WITH SOFA BED SUPERIOR ROOMs that are 108 Euros.

Since almost all of the Holiday Inns are available for less than 100 Euros via Friends and Family, take your choice according to the area most convenient. I suggested Montparnasse because of the relatively good value.

But if you are going to pay 100 Euros, you can stay in the centre.

    What are your dates?

As to breakfast, there are couple of bakeries within a couple of minutes walk, so we ate breakfast there. I think the hotel breakfast may have been around 14 Euros. A formule at the bakery: A drink, hot pastry or sandwich and a dessert was around 5 Euros.

Hi Donnie, we are staying 18th July-21st July it is for 2 adults and a 13 year old and the only option that came up were the double with sofa bed superior rooms. So i assume you were looking for just a couple? And in all fairness i didn't state how many of us were going but no romantic break for us that's for sure! and because our son is coming with us that is the only room available. I must admit i haven't looked at any of the other holiday inn hotels though, but they may be just as dear if not dearer.

I see.... don't forget your thirteen year old :) Anyway, you should take a look at some others, just in case they have a suitable configuration.

Either way, I wasn't unhappy with the location.

Hi, i thought i would update everyone as i have now booked our hotel. I was looking last night and had a look at the novotel vaurigard on accorhotels.com they had an offer on, which i think finishes 1st June(tomorrow) and i managed to get 3 nights with breakfast for £272!!! Which i think is a brill price.
So i would just like to thank everyone who gave me there thoughts, advice and input and for Malid who recommended the hotel!
    Thanks everyone.
Oh, one more question if someone can kindly answer. Can you book tickets over the internet for the eiffel tower? As mother in law has just come back from Paris and said the queues were enormous!!!
