£20 quid trade-in for non MOT Cavalier Turbo Diesel - Would you accept?
Have been offered £20 for my Cavalier 1.7 TD that failed its MOT recently.
(It's unsalvageble purely because the amount of welding it needs underneath?!! )
Therefore got to wondering if it may be possible to recoupe more money than this from breaking for spares or even taking to the scrap yard and taking what is offered for its weight in scrap metal?! What would you do?

You could make quite a bit more by breaking it but if you don't know what your doing regarding stripping it then the best option is to advertise it on ebay as spares or repair. Cavaliers are good workhorses and there should be decent interest in it.0

They're taking the micky.
Average car these days is around the £50 mark as scrap.
Phone around a few scrapyards, they'll come and pick it up as well.0 -
You will get more from a scrappy I was offered £40 for an N Clio 2 weeks ago sold it for £50, you would get more breaking it yourself but then there is the hassle.0

They're taking the mickey by offering £20 instead of £50??
A scapper is more hassle than its worth to a dealer. We used to price the deal so that they stood us nothing but that it appeared that the customer was maybe getting £100. Poor salesmanship by the dealer not to play with the figures a little to do this.0 -
stick it on ebay, list it honestly and you will get what its worth. usually around £50 -£100 depending on demand for your model.
start your listing at £1 and watch it go up and up.almost garaunteed to be no hassle in selling it either as it will more than likely be a scrap dealer collecting it....work permit granted!0 -
As said Ebay it

At that end of the scale the money is not really that important. For me it would be the hassle factor of getting rid.
Do you want to be bothered ebaying it etc?0 -

Ebaying a non runner is no hassle??, cash on collection, no comebacks. If it doesn't sell, (start it at the £20 you've been offered), ring round the scrappies;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
