    Birthday update
All presents brought, bar parents and dd

    Special birthdays
1 friend whos 40 in August - special presents ipod (courtsey of Qype)
    + doing her a 40 Box

1-15 Stationary set, pencils, rubbers, ruler, fab, sheep + cows £1
    16,17 2 x body scrubs bargain price 49p each
    18-21 4 piece memo set £1.00
    22, 23 2 x mini note books 10p each

    so far 23 presents = £3.18

    PS
I got some absolutely brilliant presents from Tavistock Market, Craft sets- make a bag, there different designs, cat or flowers, bargain price £1 each, I thought they were going to be £4 a set, like a tote (think right word), size bag,and couldnt believe it was a £1.00 so I got 13 of them........

The mad reasoning being, what doesnt get allocated for xmas prezzies, will go in the spares/ birthday boxes.

    Hi everyone,

    Hello to the new members.

Twilight - finally watched it yesterday - it was fantastic. So I can understand why some of you have been raving about the story.

Shevs - I gave my b/f an ultimatum when we went on holiday (this was after knowing him a year) either we get married or call it a day as it was costing me too much money in travel to see him (he lived across the other side of the country). He agreed to getting married although he didn't really want to.

Mind you we are seperated now but that cost-effective marriage proposal was over 20 years ago. Money saver even back then.:D

Mary - I can't look at an empty gravy tub without thinking of you :rotfl:.

Will have to do something with them rather than recycle them :D

ha ha im liking the money saving marriage. He did say to me yesterday if we were still living together he would of married me over there but cos we had to move back to our parents its not really the right time which I do agree with. Plus if he proposed to me now I know I would have to wait a few years before I could even start planning the wedding where as I want to get engaged and start planning straight away so Im gonna wait till the time is right. A christmas wedding maybe???? and if you are in my neck of the woods when the wedding is happening your more then welcome to come and have a drink, mind you it will be a few years off yet. A christmas bride I can see it now...............

Someone I used to work with got married on Xmas Eve and she wore a really dark green dress and had a long red velvet cape with white fur round the hood.

I'd forgotten this was for any celebration :p so I can now post my finds from yesterday's expedition! We live way 'darn sarf' & there are no places like Home Bargains, Poundland, etc & our closest MrA, Hobbycraft & Primark are at least 45mins drive in each direction :o so--rather like Mary--I rely heavily on what I can find in whatever shops available.

No1 has become a tad fixated on ice cream sundaes & enjoys all the fiddling around involved, so I've borrow an idea from Sian the Green over on the Finished Hampers thread. It is impossible to find anywhere that sells the gubbins to make knicker-bocker-glories & the like, but I was fortunate to find two little glass dishes narrow enough for banana split, & two unusually shaped glass mugs that will serve for fruit sundae in a charity shop :j All I need now is a scoop, some sprinkles & a couple of sauces....
I've already asked the "Family" for ideas for grandma's b'day in October, as it will be a 'biggie' but as is the way with my rellies, only one has so far bothered to respond  I was only asking for opinions on hiring a little room somewhere or whether to bite the bullet & use someone's lounge  Anyhooz, I've again asked for their views on all chipping in to get a fish tank as muvva has mentioned it on several occasions over the past couple of years.
There's also a couple of bits left over from last year's scavenging that will be used for either birthday or crimbo, so on the whole, I'm not doing too badly :D

I have been lurking on this thread for a while, enjoying all the tips and banter and now feel I would like to participate in my small way so can I join in please?

I need to be more organised (and thrifty) as we are planning to spend Christmas & New Year this year in Greece, therefore will have to have all the presents bought, wrapped and distributed before we go. (Between OH and I we have 6 grown up children and their respective partners and 6 grandchildren)

I am an obsessive list maker so this is a heaven sent opportunity to do lots of those! and have started a notebook already with loads of ideas, many from this forum.

Have been inspired by the hampers thread and plan to make some of those and also use some home made produce / toiletries and have made a start with some chutney, again from another thread on this forum.

Will be off to Greece for 2 weeks on 4th June and will, of course be looking out for potential bargains while there.
